I re-read the I-129F instructions several times and DO NOT see this as a document needed for submission in the package. Does this need to be included or not as it is part of VJ checklist. Is this something that can be used during the interview part ? We can do this , it will just take another week before we can file since we will have to wait for the mail :-(

Thanks for the info

Hi Steve,

Actually, you will need to do this letter twice, and you do need to include it in the package. The first letter of intent is to mail with the package. You need one from you and your fiance.

Then, when you are going for your interview, you'll need some with a recent date on it to show that you two still intent on marrying.

Make sure they are signed and dated. I wouldn't send my package without it if I were you. Getting a RFE for that would su** big time... And at my interview I was asked for the letters. So they'll actually be wanting that...

Hope this helps!

Good luck!

I think it depends on the person reviewing your case because I did not send a letter of intent to marry with my initial pkt. and I got approved without any RFEs. But when I gathered all paperwork for the interview I made sure I put one in there. Good luck

It would suck big time to get an RFE (Fixxored)

Yes, include the letter of intent to marry (NO NEED TO NOTARIZE IT, no matter how many "experts" here tell you to do so) in your packet.

Then, when beneficiary goes to Embassy Consulate for interview, you will include the same letter, but with updated siggies and date, so print out 4 copies and save 2 for later.

Most of all, enjoy yourself and your true love, in spite of this ridiculous bureaucratic nightmare process to be together.

I agree with patient we never sent a letter of intent either for the petition and was never asked for one, we did get an RFE but was not for that. And RFE is no drama either if you do get one. But Steve I never saw it anywhere either on USCIS instructions. But if you want to do one it's just a quick note from you to add in with your petition.

From Section 5: B. Provide original statements from you and your fiancé(e) whom you plan to marry within 90 days of his or her admission, and copies of any evidence you wish to submit to establish your mutual intent; and

Just use the example forms and change the names and addresses accordingly. No big deal but yes this is required.

Always always always follow the VJ Guides.

Thanks everyone for all the responses, I will send one from each in with the initial filing,, wish I had seen that before since she has to mail the signed copies to me and that adds another week to the wait time.

Thanks again

A letter of intent is mandatory. Check out page 3, left column, point B, right on top of the page.

There's also an example form here(Fiancé(e) Letter of Intent)
