I'm going to file I-485 for my wife, but she is pregnant now, she can't get some of the shots, does she need to complete vaccinations before filing or it can be done later?

on the I-485 instruction it says "You may include the vaccination suppletment with your form I-485."

it doesn't say it's required to file with I-485.

any one has experience on this one?

Thanks

hey - you got that yellow book from china, the international shot record, from when she was going through the medical bits there?

If she wasn't pregnant then,

there's a good chance that she's done,

and a Civil Surgeon just needs to 'transpose' the shot record into the I-693.

but yes, it can be done later, suggest you have the civil surgeon make some annotations on the I-693.

no she didn't get the yellow book in China because it seems the civil surgeon here will do blood test see what kind of vaccination she still needs.

at this point should I just file the I-485 without the I-693?

no jackc, I don't recommend you file without the I-693.

But hei - get some other opinions on this...

wow, congrats jackc, exciting news. From what i've read the civil surgeon will determine which shots can be done and mark the others as inappropriate due to the pregnancy and recommend a waiver. I could be wrong though, i'm on this step myself and still figuring it out.

did she decline getting shots in China? my wife get her first round of shots and got that yellow book Darnell mentioned.

As stated she will still need to have an I-693 vaccination portion completed and it will be specified on the form by the CS which shots are contra-indicated due to her pregnancy. Failing to supply the form does not tell USCIS that she is pregnant.. they will just assume you forgot it and send you an RFE. Going to the CS and getting the vaccination transcription will lower your chances of an RFE.

Good luck.
