Hi everyone,

I don't know where to post this but I want to share what my toy, magicjack!

I know the feeling of being away. I, myself is one with you in the process. So, I want to help how we get in constant communication all this time, aside from IMs online. So this magicjack allows me to call my husband in his mobile/home phone for free. At the same way, he can also call me. www.magicjack.com will explain better. But this is really useful. It saves a lot of money because before we had this, we spent $$$$$ just to get connected everyday.

Oh, you can call US and Canada for free or anywhere around the globe as long as that someone has magicjack too. Isn't that amazing?

Grab it and enjoy talking without limits ;)

God bless us all!

MagicJack kept Rick and I sane throughout the immigration process and made us feel like we were together all the time. We still use it to keep in touch with my family in the Philippines! :D

We use Magicjack as our only phone at home. The call quality is not quite as good as a regular phone but it gets the job done and you can't beat the price. I definitely don't miss not having a phone bill. Our only other phone is a prepaid cell phone, so we pay very little for phones. My wife uses our Magicjack to call her various relatives that live in various places around the U.S. and Canada and she talks all she wants for free. When I tell my friends that my phone is a Magicjack they laugh at me for being so kuripot, but who cares, I laugh all the way to the bank. :P

To get the best service out of it, you have to have a broadband connection, and instead of plugging it into the USB port that comes with your PC, get a powered USB hub...that would prevent calls from being dropped. We used ours very frequently and for many hours so we sure did burn the lines literally lol The powered hub helps keep the calls stable.

good to know it works, I always wondered if it did, I think I will buy it! Thanks

Same here. This magicjack is really helping a lot. And I don't have issues on the connection. It's clear ;)

A powered USB hub. :wow: I've never heard of that but it sounds like it will help with the connection quality. I think I'll get one. Thanks for the tip. :)

It doesn't cost much and it sure helps. :) There aren't any good ones in the Philippines, unfortunately. You often buy the hub and the power adapter separately...I used 2 USB hubs before we left Manila. Belkin is a good brand, that's what we use here at home now. Hopefully when we get to visit the Philippines, we will be able to bring one for them to use.

But you pay for magic jack service...You can talk free anytime using yahoo messenger as long as both people have speakers and a microphone. B-)

Yup, it's only $20 a year. After you install it and register for your US number, you can start using it right away...you don't even pay the $20 till the following year.

I used a wireless phone so I can talk to my husband from anywhere in the house, as long as it wasn't too far from the base. YM is fine if you have your bedroom or office all to yourself (or a laptop which you can position anywhere) but back in the Philippines, my daughter and I shared a room with my mom and my sister, and there is a TV in the room...that's where we had our desktop, too...kinda hard to talk intimately with your SO with the TV blaring in the background and other peeps around, you know?

I use magic jack and two different phone services. At any given time one of the three is unable to connect or the reception is terrible. I prefer PinoyTawag when it works. Rebtel has been the most stable. Magic Jack quality is ok maybe half the time I use it.

It's voip, it does what it should, at times not the best even with the fastest data speeds. It's way cheaper, agree. Got it 4 years ago didn't use it and gave it to my dad 2 years ago and we do use it to communicate least 4 times aweek

We used to use MagicJack but once Anna was here the need for a running computer at that end was a killer as her Mom is elderly and not interested in computers.

We found Nettalk early enough to have 2 of their units with the unlimited lifetime subscription (paid $100 upfront and will have service for the life of the company). now it's about $100 a year but the quality is better than MagicJack and it is a stand alone unit (like Vonage) so no PC required that that end. We're pleased with it .
