Amending Passport during CR-1 stage

My wife want to use my last name & would like to amend her passport - it expire in 2014. I know that will be beneficial as the Visa will be approved with/in the name that is on the passport.

All the documents that I have submitted for the CR-1 are in her maiden name - we are currently at the NOA1 stage.

She would like to go to the DFA in Manila next week and have it amended.

If she amends her passport now - will it affect (slow) the rest of the CR-1 process?

Also, if she amend her passport, should we use her married name for the NVC stage or continuing using her maiden name?

Once she has a new passport you need to use the new name at all instances - so NVC, interview. It will not slow down the process and she will get her green card in the new name instead of maiden name (Which would require you to change GC and cough up another $380).

You're good to go.

Thekfc, name change is not an issue. She will use her married name from NVC stage in DS-230. Also, get her PCCs under both names. Don't forget to put her maiden name under 'Other names used' in DS-230.
