Danno, something like this doesn't just anger fringe Muslims, I would think it would anger all Muslims. This puts this church group in the same realm as the extremeist Islamic groups who preach hatred.

Big surprise. Christians can be as wacko as any other religious fanatics. It is the right of Muslims to build an Islamic community center on their own property with their own money and it is the right of the wackos in Florida to burn their own books on their own property.

I think the media promotion of this story is more reprehensible than the guy burning the books. There are always idiots like that out there, but no purpose is served by the media drawing attention to this. They know very well what the reaction will be, and by giving this very minor story national prominence, they guarantee it.

If you follow the news coverage on this you'll see the idiot pastor in numerous tv interviews airing his views. They have given this insignificant extremist a national platform for his views. That is criminal, IMO.

I don't think its a good idea to burn the Koran. It's a really really bad idea.

But seriously, there are a lot of Muslims in the Middle East burning American flags on a consistent basis. How come that doesn't get the amount of attention that this Koran burning story is getting?? Just sayin.....

Assuming the book burning goes forward it will be a remarkable test of the Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance we on the outside hear so much about.

I personally think it is innapropriate, but much like the choice in location for the Ground Zero mosque, burning the book is their right.
