Hello everyone ,

I think this forum is really helpful, but i have still a couple questions regarding getting married with an f1 visa status to an us citizen...

My Boyfriend and i decided to get married this year and were both not really familiar with the whole application procedure.

What kind of forms do we need to file..and how long does the whole application procedure takes to receive a permanent residence ??How much does the whole procedure costs? And what can we expect when we have to go for a interview ?

The other problem is he lives in Ny and i live in NJ were planning on moving together the next year and i need to know is there a requirment that we have to live together at the point when i file my application, because my college is in new jersey and hes living and working in New york . And im not sure where we should get married because im thinking about to apply afterwards for a financial aid at my college , would it be better to get married in new jersey because of my college ?

I hope i can get some answers for my question:))

You can get married wherever you want to, for the rest it is the guides.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Proof of living together is not a requirement. You must show a good faith marriage and a solid relationship

Once married, you're husband will file the I-130, the G325A, the I-485 and all the supporting documentation to adjust your status from F-1 visa holder to GC holder

Follow the guides from a K visa the process is the same
