Some members on the board are making contradicting statements about original documents and NVC. Am I right to assume that NVC requires original documents, and once, the DS-230 is approved, the documents would be sent to Ho Chi Minh. My wife has only one marriage certificate; I hold the other one here. I am just concern because the application package requires that she bring her original documents but that would be impossible if she send them to NVC with the DS-230 package.

How can that be? They are required to be sent with the DS-230 package. Wouldn't the case be incomplete[d] at NVC without the original documents?

The police report has to be original. Any birth certificates, marriage cert. Can be certified. Copy of passport is as is just the photo copy of the bio page.

How did you get your certified copies? Did you get them from the Jamaican Government? It is probably different procedure to get certified copies in Vietnam anyway.

You send the original or certified copies to NVC ALONG with photocopies of all the dox you want back at the interview, meaning - all original documents will be given back to you on the day of the interview(the NVC sends everything to the consulate). Have a look here for more info: LingChe Shrotcuts and here: National Visa Center

Unless something changed since yesterday, that's the way it goes! Good luck!

I have also read that they will accept cerified copies if the country does not give or you cannot get originals. I read that in the NVC web page. The best thing to do always if not sure is to check the website, I was able to find out where in Chile I could go and get all the documents my husband needed in Chile. Good luck!!

I know that there is a way to request all documents to be submitted to the interview also, but honestly idk how that works... So, if someone can share some info?? Anyone?? :)
