I'm surprised you guys are making such a big deal of this and not celebrating the fact that he's finally posting "news" that's not about guns.

actually, i'm about to do that. got back from the range just a bit ago.

I did a little research and I am wondering why MadHouse never questioned the value of earlier posts about Catholic Priests.

If he doesn't like it... he questions why it was posted (as if this board has some supposedly meaningful purpose).

PS - the true challenge is to find positive articles about Muslims online. It's difficult, and that's why people keep insisting that they haven't heard of Muslims renouncing terrorism, despite the fact that it's happened repeatedly.

you are welcome to post any that you know of.

The biggest story in Pakistan right now is the massive flooding that has killed and displaced hundreds of thousands of people. In light of that, it seems (at the very least) to be an odd choice to post this particular story, if someone is merely (and innocently) posting random stories about other cultures....

i elected not to post the story about non-muslims being denied relief aid by the muslims that controlled the food supply that is being provided by international donation. if you want i can dig it up. just too sad to post, if you ask me. some of the people being denied are a type of "muslim" that do not follow the tenets closely enough to satisfy those in power. another example of cultural genocide in action.

here it is:

Minorities denied flood relief in Pakistan

Earlier this week, members of Pakistan's Ahmadiyya community, who were caught up in the raging floods around the Central Punjab town of Muzaffargarh, were not rescued from their homes because rescuers felt that Muslims must be given priority. Ahmadiyyas are ostracized by Pakistan's mainstream

Muslim community who consider them to be non-believers. In Pak files

Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday urged the international community to show solidarity towards the victims of floods in Pakistan by providing "concrete support"

Pakistan on Wednesday airlifted two British cabinet ministers away from angry protesters after they visited an area ravaged by floods

Aid organisations and the UN itself have expressed alarm that the plight of millions of Pakistanis has yet to strike a sufficiently sympathetic nerve among donors with aid trickling in far more slowly than needed

1973, this community was officially declared a minority. Since then the discrimination against them has been severe.

The Ahmadiyyas complained to the government that not only were their community members not rescued but in some instances ejected from relief camps when their identity was disclosed. This has been refuted by the provincial Punjab government but eye witnesses have attested to this.

Bottom line, you are being willfully obtuse. Lisa. You're right, bigoted reporting is not your problem; if you don't give it much thought, so what? No skin off your teeth. Gotcha.

as well connected in the muslim world as you are, as well spoken in this internet forum as you are, and having appropriate credentials for acting as a source author on the subject, why don't you make some calls, find some examples of islamic leaders rejecting radical movements in regard to an actual cash flow, rather than just words, and submit to every news agency out there. at least one of them is sure to run with a ball like that.

if it was authored by a simple country boy like me they might not take it seriously, but you have told us you are a credible expert...

You were asking similar questions on another thread, then, I answered those after you admitted that doing a more directed search gave you results you normally don't get.

BTW, there are no Islam leaders among humans. There are community leaders, or tribal leaders, but the only leader of Islam is God.

 yes if i have to read one more article about incorporation i may puke on myself.

More evidence Alan Gottlieb has ambitions to do more than sit around and collect money...

SAF FILES AMICUS BRIEF IN NORDYKE

CASE, ARGUES FOR STRICT SCRUTINY

BELLEVUE, WA - The Second Amendment Foundation has filed an amicus curiae brief in the long-running Nordyke v. King case in California, arguing that Second Amendment issues must be decided on a "strict scrutiny" basis, and that an ordinance in Alameda County banning gun shows at the county fairgrounds is unconstitutional because it would not withstand that standard of review.

This case was a catalyst for the U.S. Supreme Court to hear SAF's case challenging the handgun ban in Chicago, because in an earlier Nordyke ruling - subsequently set aside in favor of a full en banc hearing by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals - created a conflict in the circuits over Second Amendment incorporation.

SAF's brief was written by attorney Alan Gura, who argued the landmark 2008 Heller case and represented SAF and its co-plaintiffs in the recent McDonald case, and is currently working with the foundation on other cases in Maryland, Illinois, New York and North Carolina.

Alameda County passed an ordinance more than ten years ago prohibiting the carrying of firearms on county property following a shooting at the county fair in 1998. Russell and Sallie Nordyke operated a gun show at the county fairgrounds. The shooting incident was not related to their gun show, but county officials used that as an excuse to adopt the prohibition.

"This is a very important case," said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, "because it could establish the highest standard of scrutiny to which gun laws around the country would be subjected. While gun prohibitionists were upset by the 2008 Heller ruling and demoralized by our victory this year in the McDonald case, they are terrified of a strict scrutiny standard that could be established by the Nordyke case."

The Nordyke case's importance, Gottlieb stated, "cannot be underestimated, or understated."

"Strict scrutiny is the standard of review to which all constitutionally-protected fundamental civil rights must be held," he observed. "This case has survived for more than a decade, a fact in itself that is remarkable. We believe, in the wake of Heller and McDonald, that the Ninth Circuit must act decisively to protect the Second Amendment from willy-nilly regulation by anti-gun public officials."

Incidentally, these SAF email updates are copyrighted, but include this text "Please e-mail, distribute, and circulate to friends and family". Presumably, that makes them ok to re-post here.

I don't have to write them, the articles exist. You're not looking for them because they will destroy your paradigm.

I don't know any Islamic leaders. We don't have popes or bishops or anything like that in Islam.

After reviewing this thread a number of personal attacks and baiting posts have been removed. The thread has moved hopelessly off topic to become more about the posters than the post. It will remain closed .
