Rescheduling to a specific date

My wife received her notice of appointment for biometrics. It's on an inconvenient day of the week for us; does anyone know if there's any way to speak with USCIS and reschedule for a specific date? We'd be willing to wait extra weeks if we could go on a Friday.

I know there's the option to return the appointment notice and request rescheduling, but this doesn't say anything about requesting a specific day or date.

Thanks!

If your office allows walk-ins, why not try just walking in next Friday? Most offices allow it but some do not. Before you request a later date, try dropping in at your local office. When is your appointment?

Hmm, intriguing. Didn't know walk-ins were an option. The appointment is for 9/8. Our local office is in Milwaukee (my profile is out of date); how do I determine if this office allows walk-ins?

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.detail&office=MIL&OfficeLocator.office_type=LO&OfficeLocator.statecode=WI

says "In order to visit... you must have an appointment scheduled." This isn't a clear yes or no for early walk-ins.... advice?

Thanks so much.

Many of us do early walk-ins instead of going for our appointment. At most offices, they don't even look at the date of the biometrics notice! They just want to see that you have a notice. My hubby did walk-in biometrics twice already and now we will do it this time, too.

A quick search revealed this thread on walk-in biometrics at Milwaukee:

Walk-in Biometrics

If I was in your position, I would probably try a walk-in next Friday. If that doesn't work, then I would call USCIS on the following Monday (August 30) and talk to a Consular Officer to reschedule the biometrics. Good luck!

If any VJers are in Milwaukee office and had walk in experience please share. Other than that, there's really no other way to find out if they allow walk-in unless you go there and try yourself. There's not a phone number for local ASC but even if they do, they can't tell you they allow walk-in anyways because they don't encourage it. Some office will say that they're busy at the moment and tell you to come back at a later time on the same day. Some office may tell you to come back on a certain day of a week because they're less busy on that day. Some office just let you walk in and give you a little grief or guilt but they still let you do it because you're already there. Just try walking in, no harm no foul if they don't let you, then you can reschedule.

Our Milwaukee biometrics stated walk-ins were permitted between noon and 1:00 PM every Wednesday with about a six week ending date from the given appointment where if you don't show, your N-400 application would be rejected. First appointment was on the preceding Monday at 8:00 AM, they do that when they know you have to drive 225 miles, but we already made an far advanced appointment for a consulate in Chicago that day as my wife's passport was expiring and concerned about getting a stamp in it as her conditional card was expiring. So we made it the following Wednesday. In our case a 450 mile round trip, so just don't like to drop in unexpectedly.

We know the USCIS does not provide mutually agreed upon appointments, so when we get one, keep it, you have to do it if you want you or your spouse to stay here. Did question why we had to go again as we were there just eleven months ago for the ten year card. Also questioned why Milwaukee when all our interviews are held at St. Paul, guy said, he doesn't know, just works there. USCIS states they hold your last fingerprints for 15 months, still cost you that 80 bucks, say it costs them that much to download it.

USCIS is sure like our military that I served for six long years, if they give you orders for some God forsaken place, you go or end up in the stockade. With the USCIS either you or your spouse can get deported. So you have no good reason not to show up at the appointed time. Wifes' employer while demanding at times, always let her go for the USCIS.

Call the USCIS 800 number which showed on your notice and talk to cust. rep and make another appoinment for Biometrics. I would suggest you, trying to go the original schedule date, otherwise it will delay your case processing. Sometimes Biometric helps to kick ur case from one desk to another desk. Anyways, Good luck.

Simply - no, you cannot request specific dates. As many suggested, try a walk-in and if they don't allow it, you need to mail the letter back with request to reschedule.

I seriously doubt that talking with the mis-information line could make you another appointment. If you would like to re-schedule, you need to follow instruction to mail the letter back.

Just show up at the appointed time, no such thing as inconvenience as far as the USCIS is concerned for the applicant.
