I personally would go for more business casual. At least khakis and a polo if not a shirt and tie. You want to convey the appearance of being professional and trustworthy.

England.gif England!

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times

It's you, it's you, You make me sing.

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

I think as long as you don't show up in flip-flops and shorts you should be fine. I didn't see anyone wearing suit and tie when I went for the interview. (I didn't have my oath yet...)

Thanks for the responses. Atlanta seems to do the swearing in the same day, so he's taking his dress clothes and having them in our hotel room, which is within walking distance of the office, so he can go change if needed.

Our oath letter clearly stated no blue jeans, what does yours say?

I went with casual, and sneakers, no problem.

no jeans

We haven't gotten an oath letter. I think we must get that tomorrow at the interview because everyone on here I've seen go to Atlanta has had the interview and oath the same day.

Thanks for the info though. He is taking dress clothes for the oath ceremony, in case it is tomorrow.

Wife's hospital sponsored an entertainment group at our convention center, she purchased tickets and insisted I dress up for it. Everybody there was wearing blue jeans, the CEO's, doctors, nurses, and even the entertainers. Felt out of place. But we both dressed up for her oath ceremony, there we didn't feel out of place, but dealing with an archaic agency.

You're right Juliya. It isn't on the letter. There was form N-659, Naturalization Interview Document Check List with the letter, and it says it.

Item 1 says:

You must be properly attired and bring:

The proper attire thing is on the interview letter, was referring to the oath letter that says no blue jeans.

Now if we can only define proper attire. Wife wore a very professional business suit, perhaps overdressed since her IO was a woman not nearly dressed as well as she was. Could have been a detriment for my wife.

Nah they can't refuse citizenship for being overdressed....

I wore jeans and a buttoned shirt when i went to my interview in Sacramento. The officer didn't mind it. I did dress up for the oath ceremony tho. The worst thing about the oath for me was after it was all done, I had Dem's to the left and GOP's to the right just giving me ####### about joining their party. They didn't let me have my moment and that pretty much ruined it for me.

eh - were they 'other naturalizers' or had they been admitted to the ceremony for the purpose of recruiting ?

I would love it - I would make mincemeat of them and tell em to get a proper job ... I do it with religious nuts who come round to my house... you are Jehovah's witness ? Why, what has he done ?
