Ok so here's what I don't understand. From what I've seen both service centers have completely stopped approving any K-1 petitions. Now I know that obviously VJ only represents a tiny fraction of the actual petitions received by VSC & CSC but it does seem pretty accurate to say that there's been some sort of MAJOR slowdown. Someone else posted somewhere that they had heard that both service centers had switched all their manpower to H1B visas for a few months. If there's such a backlog of visa petitions (all kinds, not just K-1s) I can't seem to understand why USCIS doesn't just hire more adjudicators? I mean, aren't we in some sort of unemployment crisis anyway? It just seems so unfair that the government can get away with this. If any other business in this country tried to get away with having such a backlog and not doing anything to solve the problem, they'd be out of business in a quick second.

I was really hoping to have my NOA2 around the 3-month mark. I can see now how unlikely that is to happen and it makes me sad. :( I'm so frustrated and impatient, not even for my petition, but on behalf of all the June filers who sat and watched them get through May and then completely stop approving anything. It's really quite infuriating. :crying:

Hmmmm

Unemployment hovering around 10% and they are pushing for H1B visas to be approved? Selfish of me but I would think that there are MANY qualified unemployed folks right now and they should stick to hiring them and allow the government to go back to processing our K-1 visas :D

I wish I could remember where I read that, someone else mentioned it in some other thread. It's probably not even true, I have no idea.

I read that thread too... can't remember where it was. Maybe in the June or July forum? But the info came from an immigration attorney from someone's work, so you never know how accurate it is. I hope it's true though, because then as soon as they catch up they can send everyone back to I-129Fs!
