FOUR people are being questioned by police over a shooting at a hardware store in Sydney's west this morning.

A man is also being treated in hospital and police have established a crime scene after multiple shots were fired at security guards outside Bonnyrigg Bunnings about 10.30am (AEST).

It is believed the offenders stole a number of items from the hardware store and shot at the guards as they were leaving.

Bunnings staff members were talking to police, who are working to determine a motive.

The injured man was not a Bunnings employee and has been treated for lacerations to his hands, believed to have occurred while he was running from the bandits.

The four suspects were arrested a short time later when police stopped a vehicle in Raphael Street, about 2km away.

They have been taken to Fairfield Police Station where they are assisting with inquiries.

A Bunnings spokesman said no one from his store was injured.

A search is underway for any items, including firearms, which might be linked to the incident.

And this one too.

A MAN has been shot in the hand by a pair of men who targeted him in a drive-by while he was driving his silver BMW Sydneys southwest last night.

About 7pm, a 26-year-old Bonnyrigg Heights man was driving his grey-coloured BMW north along Aplin Road at Bonnyrigg when a white coloured sedan pulled in front of him near the intersection of Brown Road.

It is believed two men got out of the white car and approached the driver’s side door of the BMW when one of the men fired three shots into the car before the pair fled the scene.

The injured man drove himself home before a family member took him to Blacktown Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his hand.

Police established a crime scene at Aplin Road and conducted a canvas of the area. The man’s car was also seized for scientific examination.

Detectives from Fairfield Local Area Command are yet to speak to the injured man and investigations into the shooting are continuing.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or who has information which might assist investigators in identifying those involved in the matter are urged to contact Fairfield Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

I thought weapons were outlawed there.

Only for the general population. Criminals are still free to carry guns. And soon, the general population won't be able to have toy guns either. They are very proactive in Australia. If someone gets stabbed by a fork, bam! No more forks.

Australians should not be allowed to own firearms.

Unregistered. That's why it was used in a crime.
