I'm thinking that maybe my I-94 isn't "in the system yet": I got back from our honeymoon on 8/5 and sent the paperwork the next day. It was received in Chicago on 8/11...

I remember in '04 when I was first applying for my SSN, my application could not proceed because the I-94 hadn't been "put in the system yet"... It took 3-4 weeks back then even though I gave the lady at the SSN counter my passport with I-94 stapled in it.

Hopefully this is the reason for the hold up. Someone I know whose paperwork arrived last Monday has already received their electronic NOA1's / had their checks cashed.

Meh!

This could be a reason. But then I fail to understand the delay in my NOAs, because my papers reached the office on 11th Aug, Wednesday. I am counting a lot on tomorrow! Good luck.. :)

It's a long shot, I admit... I've been going over the paperwork I submitted at home informally with a neighbor who is in-house immigration counsel for an investment bank. He thinks everything is in order and suggested that the I-94 issue might be the case...

Best of luck for tomorrow. I'll be checking my bank account first thing to see if the checks have been cashed!!

How long has it been since you entered the US? The current turn around for entry and being in the system (at least for the purposes of an SSN issuance) is 10 days.

Are you filing jointly with I130/I485? (I'm guessing so, since you've got an H1B listed.) It could be taking more time to process because of that -- one of my friends recently applied for a family based AOS for her husband (who had been in the country under H1B for a loooooong time, enough that he actually had started the PLR process under H1B's dual intent) and she said it took quite some time to get their NOA and their lawyer implied heavily that it was the H1B->family based AOS that made it take a little longer.

I just checked, and our package has landed in Chi-town, and appears to be all set for delivery bright and early tomorrow :)

Thanks for this, v interesting! I'm going to go and compare some stats now. I got back into the States on 8/5 so, assuming they opened the package a day after it arrived, I might not have been in the system.

I should probably update my signature to reflect my journey a little better! Good luck with your app

Whoooops someone hit reply instead of edit xD

But yeah, I definitely think it's the not being in the system yet that caused the delay. I don't know if they'll send it back, or hold on to it, though...

Yes you are required to send 6 passport pics.. 2 for the AOS, 2 for the EAD and 2 for the AP. They will probably send you an RFE and request the addtional photos.. Just wait to hear back from them before sending in 4 more pics

What NYS said!

We'll probably get RFEs for our photos if they're not accepting foreign-sized passport photos - we had some leftover photos taken abroad for the K1 that we used for the EAD and AP (6 of the 4cmx3cm images required for the medical and 4 of the 5cmx5cm photos for the visa) and we sent 2 of both sets, hoping one or the other would be ok... coz lets face it, what else would we do with those photos? If they're not accepted, it's not a big deal, we'll go run to Walgreens and get two more sets. We didn't have 6 of the 5x5 photos, so the AOS has some American-standard sized passport photos.

Aaaaaand we're delivered :)

NOA1 showed up in the mail today (got the e-mail/SMS on Friday). Case number(s) still not showing up on the website.

Since we've got an MSC receipt number, how can we check estimate processing times? There's no choice for Missouri on the drop-down on the site...

Been exactly 13 days since i filed my application, and nothing has come up yet - no Text/emails, no NOAs in the mail, no checks cashed and no returned application! Could I safely assume that my application has been rejected and would be returned now? I am adjusting from B1/B2 visa. Does that take any longer to get into the system? No one, obviously, from USCIS call center has been able to help me. Is there any hope left?

My I-94 expires on the 1st of September. If my file is rejected, I wouldn't have enough time to file it again before 31st August. And if it goes further than that date, I would be 'overstaying' and be going Out-of-Status! Any suggestions/ideas/advices?
