My check was cashed today! I'm so happy! I"m hoping the NOA will come by Monday!

But I really wish I found this site before I mailed in everything. I'm looking at the K-1 guide and thinking "Oh god, i hope i didn't do that so wrong that i'll get an RFE."

Here are some of my concerns:

I didn't really give a detailed explainationg on line 18 about how we met. But I did include more specifics regarding how we met in my letter of intent to marry (Also I met him while volunteering with the peace corps, so maybe they can track that since it's a part of the federal govt?) Should that be good enough? In addition to his letter, I included a letter that we both wrote and signed.

Also, of course I included the passport pics and wrote the names on the back of that. But I also included pics of our engagement party. However, i didn't think to write on the back of them the information about people and dates. (However, I included the date and description of event in the letter I wrote - but I'm afraid if the immigration won't read closely enough to find all that informatin). Also, I didn't put any of my pictures in a plastic bag.

Are these bad enough goofs to expect and RFE? Everything else I did was good. I included my flight iteneary and copy of passport stamp into country. All the other forms were filled right.

Also I have an engagement ring receipt (it's mostly just numbers but there's some Arabic). Should I pay the 85 bucks to get it translated and send it in NOW before getting an RFE, or should I just hold off and wait?

Also I noticed a lot of you have little timelines at the end of your emails. Are these just signatures you created, or did you do that another way? I already created my timeline, but wasn't sure if y'all are doing something else!

Thanks for any help! I appreciate it!

timeline doesn't matter.

Hi Sonicliz,

I wouldn't send anything to the Service Center without them requesting more evidence for a few reasons a) you might send something they weren't going to request and B) your documents might not even make it to your application and get lost somehow. I think the PC is plenty of evidence of you meeting, I don't think the engagement ring is not really necessary.

If you want to do a timeline at the end of your post, go to my controls and edit signature.

As far as your concerns:

1. Question 18: All I wrote was " We met in a restaurant while I was on vacation in Germany." Like you, I included more detail by way of an email I had written to a news station who was looking for stories about overseas love... it closely resembled the story I have in my profile... I wrote a letter of intent as well. So did David. I'm sure you're fine with what you provided.

2. I wouldn't worry about the pics not being in a bag... RFEs have been sent because dates were not provided on the pics, but I don't recall whether the posters had written cover letters including that information.

3. Don't worry about the engagement ring receipt. All you need to do at this stage is provide evidence of having met in the last 2 years. Sounds as if you've done that. Plus, I have yet to see evidence on this site of follow up information (other than an RFE response) sent separately actually connecting with the original case mailing. Save yourself the postage and don't sweat it. Many people don't even have engagement rings... me being one of them. Personal preference.

As far as signatures go, some people choose to create signatures that contain timelines to make it easier for people to see your history and respond accordingly.

Welcome to VJ!!

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
