Hey everyone. We got our interview date through today for August 15th and wondering if this could be a problem since most people I know from the UK didn't have to attend one?

Also my wife has yet to go to the Social Security office to officially change her name - Partly due to the fact it is only open during the week and she took all of her time off work for our wedding and honeymoon in Florida. Is this going to cause any issues? I have my name on the rent, car/dental and health insurance and we have a joint bank account.

Not sure whether i'm just worrying for no reason?

Thanks,

Sean

One of the questions I asked the IO during our AOS interview was "why some applicants are called for interview and others are transferred to CSC without interview". The reply was it depends on the location of your local USCIS office - some offices interview, some transfer to CSC. It has nothing to do with how complex your case is, or which country the applicant is from, or which visa type was used to enter the USA.

Your second point about your wife not changing her name yet on her social security card - my wife hasn't changed her name yet on a whole list of things - house title deeds, car title deeds, car insurance etc - and wasn't brought up during the interview. You're worrying too much at this stage - they know a lot of the evidence ain't gonna be there in such a short space of time between the wedding and the interview. What you have listed so far looks to be good.

I thought that if you came in on a K-1 there was a chance of no interview but if you came in on a B-2 there would definitely be an interview because you have not been interviewed before during the process.

coming on a K1 there is around a 50/50 chance of interview for AOS. This is because we had an interview in our home countries.

Entering on any other visa and attempting to AOS there is a 100% chance of interview.

**Edit - I think the K3 fits the 1st category but I don't know for sure.

I have being doing some further digging in the Timelines for AOS. Filtering the district offices for K1 applicants has some interesting results. Seattle (where the OP is) more or less every K1 applicant (who filled their timeline in) was interviewed. Same goes for Phoenix, Tuscon, San Franscico, Los Angeles, San Diego. New York, Newark, Chicago, Miami more or less were transferred. So it does appear that depending on where your USCIS office is determines if you are interviewed or not.

Anyway, enough of statistics - I have Coronation Street to watch!!

Good luck Sean on your interview when it comes!
