Hi,

There is a civics exam that she needs to take, like everyone else. There is a list of 100 questions that she needs to study and it can be found on USCIS's website. These are the only questions she needs to worry about. In addition, there is will a written exam and an oral exam to demonstrate the knowledge of reading, writing and speaking English. The key words USCIS IOs are looking for are also online.

For example, written exam:

IO asks the interviewee to read: "Where does the president live?"

IO asks the interviewee to write:"The president lives in the white house".

That's it! Single sentences.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

True, true! 'We' is just a habit... and the fact that I'm the expert in compiling the applications, but he has to do the interview alone this time hee hee. Come on, time to ride that wave! Mostly the cover letter and paperwork is organized, I'm only waiting on the letters from the bank stating our joint accounts. I know, I know - maybe unnecessary but I'm sending in a pile of joint relationship info. He'll bring the originals to the interview.
