Permanent Resident Received 2 Years Green Card

Hi everyone,

I have been married more than 2 years like 2 years and 6 months i received my Green Card today and it says Permanent Resident of United States of America , and my Green Card,s expiry date is 2012 , i thaught i was going to receive a green card with 10 years expiry date but its 2 years expiry date. i know that those people who enter United States before 2 years of their marriage they get a Conditional residence card and they have to apply to remove conditions 90 days before their green card expires , do i also have to file any form to remove conditions?

Has anybody faced this problem?

i never heard that someone who,s permanent residence received a 2 years expiry date green card. I am permanent resident and i received a card today that expires in 2 years thats so strange.

and someone who is a Conditional Residency ,Does they have this written on their Green card like this Conditional Resident of United States of America?

Yes, you are supposed to have a 10 year GC when you have been married more than 2 years.

You should file I-90 on the basis for USCIS error and obtain a 10 year GC.

I am married to a US citizen and been married more than 2 years ,i came united states just last month, been in administrative processing for 8 months and i received Immigrant visa , on my visa its written as this visa category = CR1.

and when i was at POE the immigration officer only stamped this on my passport ADMITTED. thats all

but yesterday i received my Green Card on my Green card it says Permanent resident of USA , it does not say Conditional Resident. but the problem is that my Green Card is valid for 2 years not 10 years.

i have been married 2 years and 6 months.

I have read the thread of Tomkat , her husbands case is same like me ,, he received 2 years Green card while hes married more than 2 years and same here i am also married more than 2 years and i received 2 years Green Card.

another questions i see the filing fee for i-90 would they charge me money , its USCIS mistake or maybe they are hiring new people to make green cards lol.

www.uscis.gov and make an INFOPASS - bring all your documents and then see what they tell you. Should be to file I-90 with fee waived as it should've been a 10-yr GC from the beginning.

Stated on the NVC site:

What Is Conditional Residence?

If you have been married for less than two years when your spouse enters the United States on an immigrant visa, the permanent resident status is considered “conditional.” The immigrant visa is a conditional resident (CR) visa, not an immediate relative (IR) visa.

Immigrant Visa for Spouse (IR1)

Therefore if married more than two years at time of entry, your status should be IR1.

First of all congrats being in the U.S and successful immigrant journey! Let's know how your I-90 progresses. As OBX told you, you are eligible for IR1 since you are married for more than 2 years on the day of POE. I am keen to know your I-90 progress since ours is also in a similar situation like you.
