Thank God and this site I just got my NOA2 in the mail and the NVC said it will be forwarded to the embassy within a week. Now my fiance and I are trying to gather all our documents together and I was wondering:

1. What do the instructions mean by certified copy of a birth certification?

2. How do you get your interview date from the Lagos Consulate? Did you email, call or wait for them to send your SO a letter?

1. It means you have to make a legalized copy of the birth certificate. I hope this answer helps. I think it's correct to the best of my knowledge.

2. From my sources, I can tell you that you'll have to call the consular section to schedule an appointment after the foreign fiance(e) receives packet 3 or 4(It doesn't matter who calls though. One of you.). I don't remember correctly which one. Anyway. She/He'll receive a package and she/he'll be instructed. She/he'll know what to do at the right moment and she/he'll have time to do everything they ask her to do for the interview.

Really hope this helps! We're soon starting our I-129F process as well.

Certified copy is the birth certificate that has a seal stamped on it from the official in lagos (it is kind of long in length) I have seen two types of BC in Lagos one is sqaure about the size of a passport and the other is a little longer in length and it has the seal stamped on it the shorter one does not so you want to make sure you have the one with the seal on it which is considered the certified copy.....I hope that doesnt confuse you

Lagos once you are done with packet three you email them and they will call your fiance with the date.....FYI I heard Lagos is on a 6months out for scheduling interviews so we might not get an interview until December we just need to pray about it... Thanks for the forms and definition! I will forward the information to my fiance to help him get started. I guess the packet 3 forms don't have to be mailed back first to get an interview date. I called the NVC and they said my petition has been forwarded to the embassy on June 17. They got it on June 15th.

Congrats! After your fiance sends back the papers from packet 3 (4) He can call the consulate to schedule an appointment.
