Beautiful stories everyone! :luv:

Junita, how did Mr. Greenparot propose to you? :P

Aya

Well, it's a long story...so please bear with me.

We met online on Facebook and fell madly in love with each other. On her Facebook page she listed that she loved to draw. Well I took a year worth of Art classes in high school and one of my still life charcoal drawings made it into the local art show. So, I prayed about it and I felt God was telling me she would love it if I did a drawing for her. My parents and grandma were constantly bugging me to draw more things but it took the love of a beautiful and amazing woman for me to get off my bum and do it. =)

So, I spent 3 months practicing graphite drawings. I picked out a picture from my first trip to Egypt of her in front of a very nice bridge in Alexandria (Stanley Bridge). And for 1 month non-stop I worked on drawing that picture. I must have put in at least 100 hours into it. But of course I couldn't work on it while talking to her on MSN and on video camera, so I had to work on it during my breaks at work and some before bed. When finished, I had it custom framed and I entitled it "My Habibi".

* The key part of the drawing was i drew a ring on her ring finger. *

I also wrote 2 poems for her and printed them up. When I came back to Egypt for the second time, we sat on a bench near the same place we had our first date at in a park called Montazah. I read the 2 poems and brought out the drawing. Well, my parents also came with us and were supposed to make themselves scarce but ended up walking up to us as I was pulling out the drawing. Luckily she didn't see it. So my parents left and then I continued. She saw the drawing and I waited a bit for her to ask about the ring on her finger. She didn't so I asked her, "did you notice something on your finger?". She said "Yes". And that's when I brought out the rings and got on one knee and proposed to the woman of my dreams. Thank God she said yes =). She was so happy and excited =).

Sorry for the long story, but I love telling it; it lets me re-live that magical day when we are so far apart during this long visa process. Here's a picture of the rings:

Sweet story!!! And I remember Montazah Garden VERY well... I beat Adam in bowling both times we went there! We had a lovely time walking thru the whole garden and chatting away miles ahead of his sister and best friend. Montazah is such a lovely and beautiful place!!!! Brings back memories! ... also it was in Montazah where I accidentally lost Adams ID and military cert in the sand after we had went swimming! ... and it was found and turned in and we had no idea where on earth it was at.... a day before our wedding... went to Montazah and the first officer we saw at the gate went inside the office , then a 2nd office passed us by and Adam told him about it and he went in and got Adams military paper out the office then the first officer came out with his ID card! Amazing!

Adam and I met online in a yahoo chat room in Oct 2005, I was at a girlfriends house waiting on her to get ready so we could head up to N. Georgia Mtns to the waterfalls. It was just a pop on hello chat and that was it, a few days later when I was back online he had sent me a offline message, he had saved my yahoo ID. His dad had gotten into a car accident the night after we chatted for the first time... that was the same week my father had passed away years earlier from cancer. We prayed for his father that GOD would heal him.

Nov 2005, My Grandparents called me up in Georgia and told me they were going to Israel for vacation and were going to do a 3 day stop over in Giza to see the pyramids, asked if I wanted anything :)

Dec 2005 told my sister about Adam, she thought I was nuts!

Jan 2006 was talking to my mom via webcam *I lived in Ga, she and everyone else in Tx, she kept telling me she was going to find me a husband :D lol I kept saying no mom its ok dont worry about it, and she kept being persistant so i finally told her I found someone ... she said WHO! and I said Adam... she said from where ... I said from Egypt! :D Ummmm the look of shock in her face via webcam was worth millions!!! Adam was also online that day so we did a invitation to voice and webcam for all 3 of us. Grandparents found out about Adam!

Jan 2006 I asked my grandparents if they would be willing to meet Adam, if he travelled to them. Grandmother said YES! Grandfather said, Why do I have to go on my vacation to find u a husband!? I said papa, you dont! I think I found him myself! :D

March 2006 Adam met my grandparents on vacation in Cairo. Grandmother kissed him, then called me up from Israel to tell me hes so cute and sweet and gave their permission if he wanted to marry me

April 2006 Adam bought my engagement ring.

July 2006 Flew to Egypt and we got married!

His dad was in excellent health for our wedding! Then he passed away 5 months later. God had answered our prayer long enough for his father to see his son get married and be part of the ceremony.

Very nice story! Yes, I loved Montazah as well. The water was so clear and calm. Glad you and your husband were able to get his ID back =).

Trillium, at least from my personal experience he was probably so nervous because he wanted it to be perfect and something you would remember forever. I was fairly sure my fiancée would say yes but I was still a nervous wreck. When you love someone so much you want to spend the rest of your life with, you try everything in your power to make the proposal perfect. As perfect as the woman you are proposing to and as amazing as the woman. At least that's how I felt, but before I met my fiancée I was a hopeless romantic...now I'm just a romantic fiancé =).

my husband asked me to marry him about 3 weeks after our first face to face meeting. He was visiting me in Canada at the time and hadn't planned on asking me, it just came out... we were hugging on the day he was due to go back home and he just looks at me and asks "Will you marry me, Marilyn?" and of course I said yes ..lol I knew I was going to marry from the first time I laid eyes on him at the airport 3 weeks before.

I was drunk. My babe asked me how long I was going to keep her waiting. I told her that I had no idea I was keeping her waiting. Somehow I became engaged. The next morning when I was sobering up I knew I was screwed. I tried to back track quickly but the damage was done.

When going through a supposed courtship or anything having to do with babes stay sober. helpsmilie.gif

Ours was a little different in that we both knew he was going to propose. We had discussed getting married because we knew about immigration requirements and when I was visiting him in the US once, he was so worried about making the proposal perfect that he never 'found the right moment' and I ended up going home without one. The next time I visited, he waited until the last night and while we were lying in bed together, I saw that he was working up the guts to do it, and I told him to stop - we both knew it wasn't the right moment and he was only doing it because it was the final night. The NEXT time I visited, we went to the beach at sunset and he sat with me on the rocks and gave me a gorgeous speech and presented a ring. Of course I asked him to say it all again, before saying yes. It did take us about a year to actually get engaged but it was worth the wait.

aww this is so fun!

Ali told me he wanted to go out to eat. That was normal and we spent like an hour (mostly him) getting dressed and complaining about how we both couldn't button our pants haha. We finally went out and ended up at an expensive place and just ordering a glass of wine. Then he caught me offguard by putting a jewelry box on the table and I have to admit I had a mini stroke because I was sure a ring was inside.

I was wrong!! I had bought a pink necklace and earring butterfly set a few days prior (it was like 3 dollars) and what he had done was buy me a replacement set of actual pink crystals. It is beautiful and I wear it at least once a week still.

Well he kept going outside the restaurant and making a phone call and smoking cigaretts and i was like hmmmm

then he was texting somebody but keeping the phone out of my reach (he's a foot taller) and I was pouting and complaining that he was keeping secrets.

Come to find out, on the walk home he had been texting our housemate to assemble things int eh dining room. I come home and he had made a heart out of candles with a bottle of wine in the middle. I was like what is going on and I turned around and he was on one knee. really cute! I cried and said yes.

he's so romantic!
