(living in the shadows..... LOL)

A Nebraska State Patrol Trooper, performing a routine traffic stop on eastbound Interstate-80 May 26, discovered eight illegal aliens riding in a Ford station wagon with Arizona license plates.

The car was registered to an Arizona man and the driver had an Arizona ID.

The men were apparently getting as far from Arizona as they could get.

Lawmakers in the Arizona Senate recently voted 17 to 11 to approve a controversial immigration enforcement bill, widely regarded as the toughest measure yet taken by any U.S. state to curb illegal immigration.

Immigration is a bitterly fought issue in the United States, where some 10.8 million illegal immigrants live and work in the shadows, although it has been eclipsed in recent months by a healthcare overhaul and concern over the economy.

The law requires Arizona state and local police to determine the status of people if there is "reasonable suspicion" that they are illegal immigrants and to arrest people who are unable to provide documentation proving they are in the country legally.

It also makes it a crime to transport someone who is an illegal immigrant and to hire day laborers off the street.

The troopers alerted Immigration Customs Enforcement, who took the allegedly illegal immigrants into custody and towed the station wagon.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

So they don't actually know if they are illegal.

I know it states allegedly but would you like to put some real cash on the line in a bet that after further investigation the word allegdly will be dropped.

I also bet the person driving with ID may be of legal status but is now screwed because he will recieve and rightly so mure punishment for his crime than the illegals.

It does prove that IF we eliminate the econmic incentive, even just a little, they will cease to be exploited and abused and will return to freedom and dignity in their own country (if they can't just drive to Nebraska)

PUNISH EMPLOYERS/EXPLOITERS!!!!!!!!!

But they do need geography lessons. Nebraska is not as far as you can get from Arizona. Indonesia may be, but not Nebraska.

So they don't actually know if they are illegal.

I think you have to say 'allegedly' until they have been legally processed and found to be undocumented. It is likely that they were, as this is Nebraska, they probably have to have more than an hunch that these were persons of interest. The fluff about 'fleeing as far from Arizona as possible' is speculation and heresay. It makes the day of those who get a frisson of happiness every time they read stories of undocumented migrants getting their comeuppance but it has no basis in any known facts.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

What if they were just taking a road trip to scenic Nebraska and not really fleeing Arizona? I mean undocumented/illegal immigrants are people, too. They like to take road trips now and then and go on picnics. I know because we have an artificial beach in a local lake. On summer, it's infested with Mexicans. I bet hundreds and hundreds of them are illegal. But they seem to be their just drinking Coronas, smacking on succulent ribs, and having a good time to some loud music. Not a single concern in the world; not even to pick up their own rubbish.

Real Mexicans who know anything about Mexican beer won't touch Coronas. ;) - Closest 'real' Mexican beer we have here in the states widely available and imported is Modelo.

You must be seeing south Americans

Damn! I've got my stereotypes wrong. :(

But it's true that they drink at local parks. I'm not sure if that's legal. Plus, you have people running around barefoot. Those beer bottle can get smashed and create public hazard. Dammit, I just want to enjoy a day of peace and tranquility on a war summer day. Can't the Mexicans leave us the heck alone?

Perhaps you need to learn to identify fact from speculation? Just by looking at these people you can tell their motivation? Well, good luck with that.
