Post containing TOS violations (personal attack) has been removed.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

If you don't agree with the oath, you should not have filed to become a citizen.
I agree with Ace13, the US is one of the few countries that allow people to come and keep their languages, schools, newspapers etc. Any other country either you learn the local customs and change to them or take the highway. Dont like the Oath? dont take it

Actually you are both are not only EXTREMELY rude but also EXTREMELY wrong.

The oath is able to be amended because it's not "set in stone". It's a general standard because if they didn't have a standard to work off of then it would never be the same and it would be confusing. The statements of those I've posted claim that not saying the "standard" statement is a reason for the OP to leave the country, ummm.. if it WERE then there wouldn't be other options.

As "claudio" so nicely put it, the US allows people to keep their..." stuff.. including lack of religion.

So in order to ANSWER the OP, not just hate on him, there was a thread a little while ago where someone asked the same question (plus a couple of others) here's some links for you:

- http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/256160-god Previous VJ link about changing it

This link: http://www.***removed***/citizenship/naturalization-oath-ceremony.html part 5 explains what can be changed and how (from my post in that topic here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/256160-god/page__view__findpost__p__3935482 )

Good luck and I hope that helps :) Let us know how you go.

p.s. I will be doing the same thing. God has no place in legal matters and us "non-believers" shouldn't have to swear to a God we don't believe in. I think it would cheapen the whole experience for me.
