Can you send a photocopy of your marriage certificate or does it have to be the original? When I make a photocopy it says "VOID" because its on security paper, but some people have told me a photocopy is ok and others have told me you have to send the original or a certifed copy from the courthouse with the raised seal. Can anyone tell me for sure if a photocopy is acceptable? Thanks!

A photocopy is what the instructions are asking for, HOWEVER, if yours comes out with "void" when copied I would personally obtain a certified copy from the court house just to be safe. Mine didn't say "void" when photocopied so I just included that photocopy. No issues so far **knock on wood**

USCIS understands it is a photocopy... with the "watermark" showing it is even more proof of a copy of a real document....

I get that but I wonder how obvious the "void" mark is and whether it obstructs anything. I know one person's document had "void" all over it. dozens of times... and personally I would think that it made the document illegible. However, if the OP wants to send it and wait and see then that's their prerogative because as I stated before, USCIS are only asking for a photocopy.

I sent a copy, and a photocopy of LA County documents always have "VOID" all over them. I sent the copy and had no problems. Just remember to have extra original copies of documents on hand, because USCIS can ask to see originals at any time.
