I think what the bleeding hearts seem to forget is we were in a war that had to be finished not their hands slapped to come back another day.

Edit: Furthermore, one would get an interesting perspective on that war if studied from an Asian perspective. The war in the Pacific was an effort by the Japanese to create a Greater Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere, loosen the shackles of Western Imperialism, and to secure scarce resources. The Japanese were envious of becoming a global power just as the Portugese, Spanish, Dutch, British, and the Americans had done before them.

Remember that many of the Western powers that had milked the region for hundreds of years, were weakened by the Japanese, and later kicked out e.g. Indonesia, Vietnam, etc.

Personally, as a Westerner, I'm glad the Americans won.

Very negatively emotionally charged statement.. that is how I read it. Its hard to interpret what you may have been wanting to say.. but the word choice was bad if you like the US.

I was refering to the OP, and wanted HIM to explain why he posted the link with the topic the way it reads. Obviously you aren't aware of the OP and his brand of posts, otherwise you wouldn't have asked the question.

Islamic fundamentalist groups, while clearly sharing a racist and extremist ideology are simply not the same. The roots of their ideology are different, their tactics are different, their goals are different. In short, the situation is entirely different - much as our politicians like to contrast the conflicts of the present with those of the past, they really aren't comparable.

WW2 ended with the defeat of Japan, not the dropping of the bombs, more were killed by conventional sic raids on Tokoyo.

I do not understand the difference between being burned alive in a nuclear explosion or from fire bombs.

Nobody will ever know what would have happened anyway, all conjecture, what is undeniable is that a conventional attack on Japan would have produced many many times more casulalties.

I have never heard of the phrase Japanese American War, obviously a wrong term, the Pacific theatre of WW2.

Ex Russian terminology who I believe refered to it as The Great Patriotic War. Not sure what the Poles thought of that.

I can see the comparison between Nazism/ Bushido and Fundementalist Islam. All come from a similar belief system. They have different resources and capabilities and operate in a different time.
