Maybe im impatient  but really why is it takin so long for it to be PAID? The AOS fee showed paid the next day and this one just doesnt seem to want to be paid.

Aside from that...As soon as it shows PAID my husband can print out the cover sheet and we can send both the AOS and IV package off right? We are going to send it express and recorded delivery but how do we know the embassy have actually recieved it and started reading it? whats the average time after they have recieved it that it should take till my medical and interview date? I know they do teh interview date, do i book the medical?

Have your husband call NVC to see what's going on with the IV bill.

Once NVC has received all they need and processed the case you will have a case complete (again: call NVC AVR system) and then you have to wait for the interview appointment. Once you received your interview letter, NVC will send your file to the CONSULATE in Frankfurt.

I just received my NOA1 for CR1 visa. I was reading the NVC guidelines on NVC's website. It mentioned doing the medical tests within 10 days of the interview. Meaning don't do it two weeks before the interview. The document the doctor gives you, call it whatever you want, expires fairly rapidly. So if you got an medical exam a month before the interview, you'll be asked to do it again.

Also, as soon as you get the list of approved doctors/clinics, you can and should call the doctor/clinic to make appointment. Go here http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3739.html to find the approved doctors/clinics. Call them up and get a sense of how busy they are, etc. Just to be prepared and all that ish.

Not true.

The medical exam shouldn't be older than 6 months in Germany. The panel physicians in Frankfurt are on walk-in basis only. Don't know about the others. To be on the safe side with the medical, do it as soon as you have the interview letter. If you do it before you have the interview appointment the consulate may not know what to do with your results and they may get lost. The results of the medical exam are sent to consulate directly in Germany, you don't get anything (unless you're a K1, then you get a copy of something)

The best 'time tick' to watch for -

is

the 'interview date set' time tick - usually this is done at NVC. If it's done at the Consulate for yer country, though - you'll need to watch out for the appointment letter. USUALLY you'll have anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months between the timeticks of 'appointment date set' to 'appointment date' - so you DO HAVE TIME for the medical - no need to rush INTO that without the appointment letter.

Once you have the interview date set, OR the appointment letter in hand, THEN go forth with the medical exam.

Good Luck !

Chrito, when my wife did her medicals and when we asked the CO at the interview in Frankfurt, she said that medicals are valid for 1 year. Reason I asked was because I did it for my son too so just wanted to be sure.

I paid my IV bill on the evening of the 29th and checked every four hours starting on monday. The last time was at about 11am PST, it's now just after 3:30pst and it's showing as paid, so very likely if your payment timeline is similar to mine, you'll be seeing it soon if you haven't already.

Patience young Jedi, patience. :)
