Hi,

My husband told me all that is available in Florida is the records office stamped copy and a nice laminated certificate thing which er, isn't the official deal, rather something to hang on your wall and not submissable as evidence in the states for anything official. This is all that was offered to him.

If the UK bank had accepted the decorative thing over the records office one (that was needed for the visas,) heck, i'd laugh.

Fundamentally though, it's all about how well educated the bank vs the passport office are in international matters. Naturally the passport office accepted it. It was very frustrating arguing with my bank. They told me to pay the fee to have my name legally changed in the Uk by deed poll instead. I'm not even sure you can legally do that, if the passport office have already accepted your new name.

The risk manager approved the cert I had though. By chance, he was visiting the branch. I hate the bureacracy in this country. :(

We also received a decorative version of the certificate which has a gold boarder with a gold seal that I framed on the wall. The "original" marriage certificate is much more plain but on a manila colored paper rather then white. While the certified copies have the seal stamps and deputy signatures etc.

I think probably the only difference between yours and mine is the paper it's on. The paper mine was copied onto has caused a lot of very frustrating problems.

No matter what, these certs are all photocopied from the record at the office. It seems a lot of very stupid people at banks etc seem to think they get something original that nobody else has when they get married. I have an "original" birth certificate I left with my husband in case it is asked for. It is not original in the true sense at all, it is a photocopied long form cert, a copy of the record held in the UK, then stamped+signed. But it's photocopied onto some nice watermarked paper. You can always tell photocopies though because they are produced with toner, and if you fold it the toner can be seen to wear off. I had this argument at the bank, asked them if they knew that long form "official" birth certs were also photocopied. They told me they weren't. Haha yes they are!

The blame can be placed at Florida for putting their copies onto plain white paper. Also to the bank, for thinking that just because something is on fancy paper it's no longer a photocopy. Or the fact that they seem to think a stamped and signed photocopy from the records office is inadmissable in the first place! I don't think my bank know what "original" means in this sense, it only mdeans "copied direct from the records with stamp_+ signature, not a photocopy of the stamped + signed form." Somde places accept the photocopy of the stamped form - my workplace and landlord did. I accept my bank want the "original" but I wish they knew what they meant by it! Turns out only one employee of theirs did.

What a frustrating month this was!

I had read some of the March 2010 CR1 filers topic and tried to see if there was one for this month but I don't think there is? Anyways I just wanted to be included as well as anyone else who wants to give updates here on their newly started Journey's =).

If you filed in late April or May share it here please!

My update:

Yesterday I mailed off my I-130 Packet and checked the status of it just now(I'm anxious lol) me and my hubby will go for consular processing in the end if all goes well, I look forward to visiting Holland again then also and getting to see my husband again (it has been almost 3 months since our last visit which isn't too bad but it still feels like an eternity).

Update:

WE GOT THE NOA 1 !!!

I know this is the just first step, but being able to breath a small sigh of relief feels great. I checked the receipt everything looks correct! Now lots of waiting and preparing for NVC.

I hope everyone else is doing well and keep me updated May filers!

I am glad for you. Thanks for friendship.

But we were glad too early. We have found out a mistake. My husband did two separate petitions for me and my son. We have received two NOA1 with different numbers, but in everyone my name is specified as beneficiary only, not my son's name. Yesterday we called in USCIS. Then the husband has written the letter to them with a question on this mistake, has sent copies I-130 for me and my son. Now we again wait. I never thought, that it so is heavy - to wait.

Good luck everyone who goes with us!

I checked my timeline it said

Based on timeline data, your I130 may be adjudicated between August 20, 2010 and September 18, 2010*.

"If" we got them at around 4 months that would be nice =) I just hope there aren't any serious delays.

Unfortunately it seems that even the smallest mistakes with immigration can feel like a big one :bonk: , I hope that you'll be able to sort out the issue with your son's petition and I hope USCIS will try to group them together I suppose it might work something like that.

I do know that each petition is considered separate though, for children I think they try to process it with the parent's petition though so that they'll be done around the same time?

I look forward to hearing how everything goes.

I think, that we will know any news next week. I very much hope, that we will receive NOA1 on my son. I would not like to send one more case. It can borrow 2 weeks. Then the difference in petitions will be greater. But while we wait and we hope for the best.

I will inform here about all news. But something is not visible other May competitors of the visa. Probably we are one here who has submitted petitions in May.

All the best!

 Just got a email from NVCInquiry one hour ago, yep, it is my P4... Interview Date is JUNE 21,2010 07:30am. Thank God! It is a June Interview

Should we book plane ticket right away? It is pretty expersive during June-August! Only July 07-09, the Continental Airlines has some cheaper tickets, but, also more than $1,000, plus taxs and fees, totally is $1,135.80. One-way, yep, pretty expensive!!
