Aaaaargh!!! I just called USCIS again to ask if I could send the copy of the RFE letter with my response and as usual they said that it depends on the officer. She also said that it says on the letter to send "this letter with your response" and since USCIS sent an original letter and I'm sending a copy that is not exactly what they wrote on the letter :dead: I then called my attorney's assistant again and she said that I should send the original RFE letter, but she is an airhead so not sure she knows what she's talking about. Anyway, guess I'm going over to their office tomorrow to get the letter since I cannot go today. Delays, delays.....

Congrats!!

Oh no! I think I'm just going to send the scanned version. I can't take the delays anymore.

The medical exam was sent to my parents' house so hopefully will have that tomorrow. I have to go back to the IRS tomorrow morning too. They printed out what I described above, but w/ the wrong address at first. Then they corrected the address, and I assumed it was the same thing that they had printed out first (stupid me, apparently). I just checked today and....instead, it says "we cannot fulfill your request." #######!!!! I'm so annoyed.

But, in any case - we should be able to send it all back tomorrow. Saying prayers & crossing fingers that it works out okay.

Yeah that is the one we got for 2009 at first.."we cannot fulfill...", the 2008 was right though. So annoying that they cannot make it right the first time. Yesterday I read through both of them and checked it all before I left. The address on our letter is not where we live now, but I don't care anymore. It is his previous address and where he lived until Jan 2010 so I'm hoping they can understand that. He just now changed his address on the license ad we haven't gotten the new one yet.

I'm considering sending the copy as well, I can't believe that would be a big deal....but might wait until tomorrow to make sure. So tired of all the delays...

It's so annoying - we should have just read it again before we left.

When you're sending in so much stuff, it's almost impossible for it all to match up, especially since people move and everything else.

My guess (and this is founded on nothing at all) is that as long as they can scan the barcode on the form, that it should be okay. I'm assuming that's what they use to pull up the file so if they can't read that, then there could be a problem. When I printed mine out the first time, it was kind of blurry so I printed it w/ a better quality and that seems to work out okay. Am just crossing my fingers that it's okay. I guess the officer could just be a ####### and reject it regardless.

That is my guess as well. I printed mine out with very high quality so I'm sure they would be able to scan the bar code but then again, I could drive the almost 1.5 hr way to the attorney and get the original one..... The girl at USCIS did answer my question about if I could send the response or if my attorney had to do it since they filed for me and said I could. Finally a Yes or No answer from them

hoppla - I just talked to my attorney again, and he reiterated that he thought it was fine to send the scanned copy. He said that only the immigration courts get really upset about the color/originality of the papers. USCIS is less concerned w/ that. So, sending it all off today, after we go to IRS (again) today. Crossing our fingers, and saying a prayer.

Oh, I'm sure he's right I can't imagine they would care as long as they can scan the bar code, but I think I will get the original from the attorney today anyway  Even though that delays my response til tomorrow.... I don't really know how the post offices work here but maybe they have one pick up in the morning (and one in the afternoon) and it will still be sent out tomorrow if I'm there when they open...?

Yeah, I was going to follow cbriner's instructions and send it express mail and waive the signature. That is why I have to go to the actual post office to send it. So is there a difference between certified mail and express mail? I think I have to look this up on the USPS website :)

yeah I think there is a difference. I did it cbrniner's way (express mail) and it worked fine.

If you do that though, just don't freak out when the online tracking thing tells you that there was an attempted delivery and that the letter is now waiting to be claimed. USCIS told the post office to scan express mail that way.

In reality the letter stays at the lee summit post office and gets picked up at the end of the day.
