Hi. Thank you so much for this forum, it has been very helpful so far. As I gather my information together I am worried initially about this. When I traveled to Cuba from the U.S., I had a license to do so and have kept those licenses. But, I did not keep any airline tickets. There are no hotel receipts. I stayed in a "casa particular".

My fiance is working on getting a copy of us signing into that casa. Of course it will all be in Spanish.

I also have emails from the travel agent showing flight times, etc. But no tickets, no passport stamps, nothing from the list in the example on this website. Am I going to run into trouble? Any help is definitely appreciated. Hope I have posted this to the right place.

I'm not well versed in the travel requirements to Cuba, but I doubt the license alone is going to be good enough. A license means you have received authorization from the US government to travel to Cuba, but it doesn't prove you actually went there. It would be approximately the same if someone presented a receipt from a travel agency for a ticket - it proves only that you bought a ticket. It doesn't prove you actually boarded an aircraft, flew to your fiance's country, and entered the country.

As far as I know, Cuba requires a visa for entry, which they issue when you arrive. I don't know what one of these visas looks like, but do you have one of them? Any receipts for any purchases while you were in Cuba?

Pictures are good secondary evidence. A visa, passport stamps, and boarding passes prove you made the trip. Pictures prove you actually met your fiance when you were there.

Unfortunately, the visa you recieve when you enter Cuba is taken upon leaving. It is illegal for U.S. citizens to spend money in Cuba, so I have no receipts for any purchases. Cuba does not stamp passports.

I was able to find ONE boarding pass stub Havana to Cancun, from when I came back from Cuba on one of the trips - it coincides with the date of one of the licenses and it coincides with a stamp on my passport (which is almost readable). I am going to use this sequence to make my case, but I would appreciate any advice from knowledgeable folks here as to what my chances are. Thanks again.

Sorry, I should have been clearer and added - the stamp on my passport is from entering Mexico, not from Cuba. Cuba does not stamp U.S. passports because of the embargo.

To bad you didn't think to make copies of the visa. :wow: There is a Cuba forum under the tab Forum. Check over there and ask one of them. I am sure someone over there will have a better answer. Good luck

This is incorrect.

The part about not having an embassy is correct. There is a United States Interests Section in Havana, but there is no US Embassy.

Jim, I knew someone would come by to be specific, but the original OP was trying to indicate that there was no US presence in Cuba. I was going to come back and correct my statement, to say there is a US consular in Cuba, but I figured since this post was about trying to attain a K1, it was incorrect to say that there was no US embassy in Cuba. B/W an Embassy is only a building, there is a US consular office in Cuba that handles all of the US visa petitions.
