I just called to expedite too, and my experience was a bit weird... The lady confirmed my NOA number, filing date, DOB...etc all that normal stuff, and listed the reasons I can use to expedite. I chose financial loss. She then gave me a case number and said someone will contact me in AT LEAST (so what's the most it can take??!!) 5 days and ask for evidence. I asked her if she wants to know more about my situation, cuz all I said to her was "um I choose the financial loss reason", and she said no, and that someone else will contact me.

Weird... Hopefully this doesn't backfire on me. I'd hate to have my case slowed down cuz of this.

Hey, I am in the same boat too and the same exact thing happened when I called in this evening! I hope it will go well for both of us and all the rest of you!! I'll keep you guys posted.

Ah bummer! I received this e-mail this morning which was pretty fast.. I wonder if they are rejecting all expedite requests automatically:

Case type:-- I765

The status of this service request is: Due to the high volume of expedite requests for this case type, we are strictly enforcing the criteria that has been set for these expedite requests. While your situation appears serious, you have not provided evidence of an extreme emergent need.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please remember: By law, every person who is not a U.S. citizen and who is over the age of 14 must submit Form AR-11 AND notify this office of their change of address, within 10 days from when they move (persons in "A" or "G" nonimmigrant status are exempt from this requirement). To notify this office of a move, visit our website at: www.uscis.gov or call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. The Form AR-11 can be downloaded from our website or you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 and we can order one for you. Instructions for filing the Form AR-11, including mailing instructions, are included on the Form. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

The thing is that the customer service rep did not request for any evidence or explanation after I chose the "financial loss to an individual" option. Should I give them a call again?

garrrr yep I got the exact same email this morning. @$*! they didn't want any explanation or evidence of my situation, how can they make a judgment that my case is not serious??!! This doesn't even make any sense! I too think they probably just reject all expedite now, and only letting you file a request for show.

I'm going to my local office next week and am gonna bring all my evidence. I scheduled a infopass couple weeks ago. Will keep you updated.

What number did you call to? I've called several times to the 1-800 number provided, but only a machine responds. There's no option to try to talk with someone. How did you manage to get someone to talk to?

Thanks,

Hey guys,

From what I've been hearing, it usually takes at least 30 days after biometrics to receive the EAD and up to 90 days on a regular basis.

I know that most people say it doesn't make sense to request an expedite because you won't get it, well i requested one today because I need to start working ASAP and i figured I didn't have anything to lose

I spoke to someone at the USCIS customer service number and told them i was calling to Expedite my I-765 application.

He asked me a lot of information such as, receipt number, A#, my name, DOB, address, phone number, alternate phone number, what basis am i filing the I-765 application.

Then he asked me what was the reason for my expedite, I said selected 'severe financial loss to an individual'

and he asked me for more info so I elaborated on my situation.

He then asked me if I filed the application in April, yes I filed it April 8th.

The conversation lasted 15 minutes, at the end he gave me a number to write down and said that the expedite request will be forwarded to the USCIS office for my area.

So fingers crossed, I hope this speeds up my process.

Summerluv,

The same thing happened to me (got denied by the USCIS Customer Service) and I got my Congressman's office to submit another expedite request on my behalf to USCIS, about 7 hrs later I was approved (card production ordered):

I think you should try that way instead.

you can read about it here

Summerluv, maybe you can call and check in with the congressman's staff to make sure they got it and remind them to work on it etc.

After I faxed my stuff I called soon after to confirm everything. Maybe if they hear the urgency in your voice they will move quicker.

It depends on your senator's office policy. When I needed their help for an immigration-related issue, I needed to wait 2 weeks to have my case assigned to a case worker. Did you try calling them and speaking to someone in person? If you explain your situation, they may assign you a case worker immediately. I think it also depends on the number of case workers they have available and their current caseloads. Good luck!

Wanna update my status and thank danimead again for the useful suggestion (contacting congressman). I called congressman's office again around noon today. I was told my I-765, along with I-131 (guess the congressman just threw that in. great!) have been approved this morning.

I was confused since I did not receive any update notification. I went on case status online and it still showed case received. I freaked out and called USCIS again, and after numerous transfers I was told they cannot locate the congressional inquiry. But they did find my first expedite request, filed by myself. So I was very confused and stressed out, planning to bug congressman again tomorrow.

At 6pm, I finally got a text message that my I-765 and I-131 are approved! I guess there was just a long delay in their system. So, moral of the story: 1) congressional inquiry really does work, at least in all the cases I read online from various forums. 2) Be patient if the status doesn't update right away. Sometimes there might be delays.

I contacted a congressman today to expedite my EAD. Will see if it will work for me... :(

i didn't call USCIS as I understand that they would reject it anyway. Now I'm a little bit worry if I should ?

I really need to work in order to get health and dental insurance.
