You have to have a passport to get a visa stamped in it and you have to have a passport to get into the consul for the interview.. You also have to have one to travel. Not sure how you will continue your visa journey without one!

The alien fiance (beneficiary) must have the Passport. That person will require a passport to have the visa placed into the passport and then used again to enter into the US.

The DS-156 form asks for that Passport number, Date Passport was issued and the date it will expire.

Hold up. If you are questioning this, you need to step back to the beginning, stop filling out documents, and read the K-1 Guide -- and ask a lot of questions prior to preparing anything.

I-134 Tips http://www.visajourney.com/content/support

A K-1 visa allows the beneficiary a one-time entry into the U.S. USING A PASSPORT. Without a valid passport, one cannot enter the U.S. Or get a K-1. Just as someone cannot visit the U.S. without one on a tourist visa. Or any other country in the world.

You are getting a little ahead of yourself. Slow down, figure out exactly what needs to be done, and then fill everything out properly.

The solution is for your fiancée to apply for and receive a passport from her home country. She should have much earlier than this in preparation for the visa petition.

Good luck.

How did you visit her or she visit you without a passport?? Have you even filed a petition yet? Sounds like you haven't been through the process yet and are looking way ahead. I think as been mentioned before, you probably have LOT's of reading ahead of you. Good luck!

~Johnny~ made a good point --

Approval of a K-1 visa is generally predicated by the petitioner and beneficiary having physically met at least once in person within two years of submitting the petition itself. If you do not have a passport, and your fiancée does not have a passport, and you both live in different countries...

Did one or both of your passports expire? And you did meet previously?

Again, work out all of the details before you start preparing anything. It's not an overly complex process, but it hinges on some basic requirements. The first of which is having actually met within the last two years, even if it be for five minutes.

After that you have to consider the terms of the I-134 Affidavit of Support and subsequent I-864 for the AOS -- I won't even open that can of worms.

Listen, if you message back with your exact situation, maybe someone can walk you through the beginning of it. Right now, we have no idea where you are at with it, or what your specific circumstances are.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR ANSWERS.

I, THE US PETITIONER DO HAVE A PASSPORT AND HAVE MET HIM IN PERSON. MY FIANCE, THE BENEFICIARY DOES NOT HAVE ONE YET. DOES ANY BODY KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GET A PASSPORT? OR IT JUST DEPENDS ON THE COUNTRY...

THANKS.
