I am at a complete loss for words. Last week my baby started catching a cold. She just didn't feel good and was running a temperature. She got some flu type meds from the pharmacy and felt a little better Sunday. She felt bad on Monday and her fever was back so she went to the doctor. He told her she has PTB :crying: As far as she knows she'd never been exposed, no family members with it and has always been healthy. Out of the blue, here's this 2 weeks before her interview :(

She was flying to Manila on the 3rd (5 days from now) to get started on her medical then her interview date is May 18th. What do we do? I'm so lost right now I don't know what to do. I just can't believe this. :crying:

all you can do is get her treated..... I have seen a couple that ended up having to get TB treatments before they can get approved.. they were allowd to do the interview without medical approval... the sucky part is that the treatment will take them 18 months...

First things first.. worry about her health and treatment..I would have her get the medical... do the interview, then get better.. get a clean medical and give the consulate the clean medical... the visa will come in time...

hey kevin, sorry to hear that :( . She needs to be treated before she go to in her medical. The St. Lukes is really strict. They advice people who has TB to be cure in 6 months. i think u have to move ur interview date. she needs to cure herself before going to medical..

Ill say a prayer for ate merlaine.

Sorry to hear this, Kevin. We hope and pray for the best for you and your wife, and that her present health condition does not unduly delay her journey to you.

But isn't it a good thing she is now getting proper treatment, bro. Her return good health is the most important thing right now, right?

Hang in there! The Journey sure has a lot of detours and bumps in the road for most of us!

That's what I was wondering. Should I call the embassy and tell them what's happened? Can I reschedule the appointment(s) for 6 months out? Her doctor started treatment already of course. I want her here of course, but I'm most worried about her :(

I'm sorry to hear about this, Kevin.

The priority is on getting her treated now.

I don't know how Manila works, but Bangkok allows for interview without the medical exam. At the interview, a letter from the doctor is produced explaining that TB has been found and the applicant is currently undergoing treatment. Once treatment has been completed, the medical exam report is furnished and the visa is issued. Hopefully Manila works the same way. Have you e-mailed them about this yet?

Good luck, Kevin.

We just found out about all this so I haven't contacted anyone yet. I think she's at the doctor now for a couple more tests they wanted to run so I haven't talked to her, but she's very depressed and doesn't even want to go to Manila now :( I hope someone here has been through this in the Phils and can shed some light for me.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, god knows I could use a few.

She has all the symptoms M. She'd been telling me that she just wasn't hungry, she's up at night sweating like crazy, running a fever, mild cough - like flu or chest cold symptoms. I'd hoped it was a misdiagnosis but it all fits and they did a chest xray. I'm pretty sure she has it. I hope it doesn't upset her that I'm airing it in here, but you all are the best source, not to mention friends :) I just want her well

I had a friend. her aunt detected that she had a TB so the St Lukes advice her to have a sputum. and then they were waited for a month that the st.lukes called them.

Call/e-mail the embassy. See if she can do the interview and submit the medical later. TB isn't an inadmissible condition if treated. INH therapy and she should be just fine.

Thanks Bears :) I know it's not the end for immigration and is very treatable thank god. It's another hurdle and time consuming. First I want her well. I'll send an email to the embassy explaining what's happened and ask them what we need to do I guess.
