This is probably a very stupid question, but are the affidavits required? Is there anyone who filed, received the card, and didn't supply an affidavit? USCIS hints towards including them, VJ guide says no, so just want to get a for sure yes/no answer. Thanks a lot again!!!

We did not include any and Linh's conditions were removed.

They are listed as one of the things that may be included. I think that in reality they aren't worth all that much.

As with most aspects of the immigration -> naturalization process each set of circumstances are unique. And if it would make a case stronger then of course include 2 or 3.

When filing for ROC, you and your wife have to show that you are still married and living together. The first step to prove that is by filing jointly, together.

The come the jointly filed tax returns, perhaps a joint bank account, a joint apartment or house. That's all that's needed.

If somebody has very little evidence, perhaps because they don't have a joint bank account, no joint utilities, and the apartment is only in one's name, additional evidence may come handy. I personally like photos showing the couple together during the holidays, or on vacation or at a birthday party, as photos are hard to fake. About the very last documents I can think of are letters from friends and families, as these are as easier to get than any other documents.

What that means in practice is that if you can show that you and your wife are still happily married and living together, don't waste a single thought on Affidavits. In my opinion, they have close to zero value.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
