hey guys, i just mailed my AOS application yesterday along with the I-765 and I-131, but the $1010 cheque is directed to: US. Citizenship and Immigration Services (instead of US. Department of Homeland Security). I'm really nervous now cause I just found out that I needed to write US Department of Homeland Security. Will my application get declined? and if so, what should i do?

Worst case scenario might be that they reject the package and return it to you to submit again with the proper payee.

They might do this, they might not. If they do return it to you - just write a new check and resubmit. Not a huge deal to worry about even in the worst case scenario.

As Otto said, worse case scenario they will return your package telling you it's wrong. Then you write another cheque and send it again. Best case, they accept it. It's not a big deal although I do know it feels like it at the moment. Everything will be okay.

NO hon, it wont be rejected as lomg as you filled out your check completely and included the correct amount. Dont get too worked up over it. Take a look at the following:

Please be sure to include your payment of all required fee(s), including any fingerprint fees, when you submit your application or petition. Checks should be made payable to Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Do not submit a completed fingerprint card (FD-258) with your request. USCIS will contact you by mail to inform you of the time and place where your fingerprints will be taken.

Also, your completed check should resemble that of the given example found on the USCIS website. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3850a99ba78af110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD
