I think it'd be neat if all of us preparing-to-file folks could meet up, maybe we could find friends amongst ourselves to go through the process with, especially from the same service centers. If you're preparing to file, let us know what you have left that you need to do, when you hope to be able to file by, the service center you'll be going through, and the beneficiary's country.

I am preparing my paperwork. I have to send my paperwork to Nebraska. I live in Oregon. My Fiancee lives in Beijing, China

My name's Angilla, I'm 21 years old, and I'm the USC. My fiance Saint-Clair is 27 years old and lives in France. We'll be going through VSC. We're gathering paperwork and whatnot while I look for a new job. We're hoping to file in a few weeks - it'll depend on how fast I find my new job and if there's some sort of a "probation period" or not. :)

My name's Angela (or Angie), I'm the USC, and I am 22. My fiance, Adam, is 20, and is from the UK (Great Britain to be exact). We'll be going through Nebraska because I'm from Ohio (And I'm guessing we'll get moved to California like everyone else). We've got the paperwork pretty much done and dusted (just need to date it, really), and have most of our evidence together, it just needs to be sorted out and copied and made to look neater, right now it's just in a bunch of binder folders to keep it in one place.

I plan on getting it in the mail within about 2 weeks.

I too am looking to get a job soon, but we have a cosponsor so that's not as much of an issue. Hope you can find something suitable for you, Angilla!

 My name is also Angela (Angilla is just my spelling, I'd never change it legally though) and we're 1 year apart, so it took me a few minutes to get through my confusion when I read that.

Thanks, I hope so too! My current job was a disaster, I can't get outta here fast enough!

My name is Dan, I'm the USC, and I'm from Milwaukee, WI. My fiance is Li Xue Jing/Allie and is from China. She was born in the north east part of China but technically calls Shanghai home now. We're in the very final stages of gathering all our documents to submit the petition. I REALLY hope to have it sent out to the Nebraska Service Center by August 15. Right now I'm just waiting for Xue Jing to mail me a couple more things, and then it'll all be a go.

I should be graduating from college with 2 degrees in December (2006). Hopefully at about that time we'll also be receiving our NOA2 (please please please), and then I'll go to China to wait with her. We can prepare the P3/P4 documents together and wait it out. I just returned from China on June 20, 2006. I had been studying Chinese in Beijing. After a hopefully quick and successful K1 process, we plan to return to the United States upon which I will find a job and Allie will study English for a semester or so. Once things are stable and money starts to come our way, we plan to buy our home and have children. i really can't wait :)

The only thing that could mess this plan up is if I can't graduate in December. I'm having a geography profoessor that is being a REAL pain. I'll graduate for sure with my degree in International Studies and Certificate in Asian Studies come December, but if geography is a no go I'll still be going to China in December no matter what (or as soon as the NOA2 comes). If things happen this way, then we'll both be students for a short while when we come to America.

Right now it's extra tough for me too because my parents (ahem, step-mom) are not fans of China or my current situation at all. And they don't even know we plan to get married yet! I really can't talk to her about any of it. The family situation is stressed right now because of other issues, and I am feeling the brunt of her disdain and down-right hateful scorn because she doesn't like that I went to China, let alone that I now have my "Chinese" "girlfriend." Sooooo, in dealing with not being with Allie, and then having to be in this type of situation everyday, I'm gettting like 4 hours of sleep a night. So stressful. I should move out, but it'd be pretty dificult to find an apartment for just a few months, and then I don't have to worry about change of address forms etc. I don't need to give the CSC any extra reason to delay work on our petition!

I don't think I need to tell anybody here how hard it is being away from your most loved one. But hey, we all know what kind of ending we'll have. I just keep telling myself it will all work out.................. But that advice is still so hard to follow.......

I wish us all luck!

- March 7th 2006: Dan and Xuejing (Allie) met on a train going from Shanghai to Beijing

- Spring 2006: Have an amazing relationship that goes from friends to more than friends

- May 2006 to June 12: Live together in Chengdu, China and talk about our future, MARRIAGE!

- June 12 2006: return to Beijing for a week; the place it all started.

- June 20 2006: Dan returns to Milwaukee, WI.

- June 20 2006 - Begin to prepare K1 materials

French people stereotypically don't like Americans, and my fiance's run into a lot of problems with that. My mom's been pretty good with our plans, but the rest of both of our families haven't been. Especially since we, and most of our families, are Catholic and the only option SC and I have with this visa process is to share an apartment once he moves here. All our friends and family can't agree with us on the fact that we're two grown adults with self control and our own sets of values and morals that we have decided to follow... and the fact that this is a very unusual circumstance! But, well... *sigh* We've even lost friends because of this, I guess it shows what true friends they were to begin with.

My fiance and I have been apart since December and we don't think we can afford another visit before he moves here since we're both scrambling to save money, so this will be a long haul for us. As we get closer and closer to filing the petition it's getting a little easier for me... but... it's still really hard for him. What keeps me going is the thought of that hug when we re-unite and head off for our new apartment hand in hand, where we'll NEVER have to say "goodbye for who-knows-how-long" again! :D

I'm Amanda, Canadian, fiance is Ron (USC). We will be filing through the VSC. We were hoping to have it all ready to go when he visited last weekend, but we ended up short my G-325A form, 2 pictures of us from my trip with him back home to VA, and my lease, which he cosigned for me. In the meantime he's printing out the rest of our pictures, and getting his passport style photo. Everything on his end has gotten a bit difficult to accomplish since he is working an odd shift, basically comes home, sleeps, and by the time he wakes has enough time for a 20 min phone call then head back out to work :( We're hoping to have it together to send out the same day he recieves the documents from me...which were sent on the 1st and just cleared the border yesterday. Beginning to think he would get the docs faster had I opted for a carrier pidgeon. So hopefully we will have filed by the 10th. Great topic btw!

Well, I JUST sent my packet off on Tuesday. Putting it together was a time-consuming venture, I can tell you. I'm sure you all have the same feeling.

My fiancé, Laurent, is also French, Angilla...and like you and some of the others, there has been some resistance to this relationship on the part of my family. My parents are finally starting to come around, but it has not been easy with them or my sister. The biggest beef on their part? Aside from the fact that he's a (gasp!) liberal Frenchman? Laurent's not a Christian. Until very recently, my family has shown amazingly little ability to trust the prayerful course of action I've pursued in my relationship with Laurent. God has already worked so many miracles in our situation that it's literally impossible that He is not the author of this relationship. Besides...WHEN, I ask you, has God EVER done anything but work in surprising ways? I know He's taking care of things. I trust him to do that. Why can't they? And I'm close to 40, for crying out loud! Parents always have a hard time letting their kids go to pursue their own way, I guess...no matter how old they are...

I pray for myself, for Laurent, for our relationship, and for my parents every day. And I'm seeing results. The thing that God has really shown me in all of this is that I need to follow him and no one else. I stay much calmer and saner emotionally when I do that, as opposed to giving in to the fear and discouragement that my family often slings my way.

Anyway, I just thought I'd respond to this thread since I saw some common issues with my own. And since my submission is literally just days old, I didn't think anyone would mind...Hope I'm right about that. :)

January 2004: Met Laurent at the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris

February 2004: We became an actual couple

January 29th, 2006: I left France to return to the United States--AWFUL to say goodbye!

June 2006: Finally convinced Laurent that a K-1 visa would be more time-effective than trying to get an H-1

August 1st, 2006: The K-1 petition is finally in the mail and on its way to Nebraska...WooHoooo!! And yes, I remembered to attach the check! :-)

August 3rd, 2006: USPS online tracking shows that my petition (sent certified) was received at the NSC at 5:05am

August 14th, 2006: NOA1 received USPS!! (I-129F recv'd at CSC: 8/4; NOA date: 8/10; last touched: 8/11)

October 2nd, 2006: I MISTAKENLY thought we had an approval...False alarm...Back to waiting...

October 3rd, 2006: TOUCHED!!

October 4th, 2006: REALLY AND TRULY APPROVED!!! Email notification lists 10/3 as the NOA2 date.

Later that same day: TOUCHED...AGAIN! Hope that means I'm in a cozy box and moving to NVC this week...

October 10th, 2006: Received official NOA2 via snail mail.

October 19th, 2006: Case received at NVC!! AWESOME!!

October 20th, 2006: Case forwarded to Paris!! DHL says two shipments were headed that way. Must be in there somewhere...

October 27th, 2006: Received official receipt letter from NVC via USPS.

Hi Kristen... just reading my story in your post here lol My parents were often tickled by my little long distance relationship going all the way back into 2004... Told them I was working on and looking into the fiance visa process with J early this year and BAM! Suprisingly strong negative reaction! Oh well, I am certain that J will win them over once she is here, and like you I am 40, and capable of making my own choices with regards to my future.

Good luck to you and Laurent, you beat me by 3 business days, but we are filing with the same service center!! Hoping both our cases are handled expiditiously!
