Hi all VJ MEMBERS,

I am a USC and plan to file a petition for my wife + stepchild this month. I have several questions that related to filing and need your help here.

1. Do I need to have 2 separate I-130 forms, 1 for wife + 1 for child?

2. If there are 2 filing petitions, will I need to pay 2x$355 or just $355?

3. Could I submit 2 petitions together at a same time?

Thanks,

How old is the child?

Separate petitions, separate filing fees.

Note that Vietnam is one of the most difficult consulates--please prepare accordingly.

Read the guides and hang around in the regional Vietnam forum for a deeper understanding of the process and what is required during it.

If you browse down through the recent topics here in the VN portal, there was recently another case where Terry1 had run into some difficulties with his step child and the proof or relationship to his wife. May give you a heads up on things required for your upcoming case and info to gather.

We were K-1 so I dont have much experience with CR-1 or kids & step kids but the others will come along and let you know how it went for them.

You will need to file a separate I-130 for each eligible relative.

Good Luck to You both!

Yes, you can and should file both petitions in the same envelope but with separate cover letters and checks. Two stacks, one envelope.
