Well, we have already considered the lost passport route.......but.........if you lose your passport in Russia you have to wait 90 to apply for a new one. A damaged passport (eg. run through the washing machine) will take 30 days to replace. HOWEVER, she has her interview in about 35 days AND she must have her physical in 28 days.....and both require her to present her foreign passport!! So, after reading all of these replies, I think it is wiser and better to keep the current passport and go through the interview as nonchalantly as is possible.

Wow! Less than 24 hours and look at the responses you good people have sent in!!! Thank you, thank you.

To clarify one unknown I did not include in my original post: she was never in Norway for longer than 90 days...so I think the police certificate is also a non-issue.

Trust me all this travel to other countries talk will not be discussed during her interview at the Embassy. What WILL be discussed is your two's relationship. She may be asked some "hard" questions about details of your relationship. I suggest you leave this general forum and move over to the RUB regional forum and read up on some of the qustions of recent interviews so you can prepare her to what to expect. They have been asking some wild questions of the interviewees, some purposefully incorrect, just to gauge her reactions.

It will depend on how you two met and how often you have met and what evidence you have to offer. Read up and prepare her. All will be OK.

simply don't mention anything about exit out of her country unless 12 months abroad.

or she can tell that she got a business visa and was a secretary to this company/business man this time.

So less than 90 days = no police certificate.

If she's still worried tell her to 'loose' lose her passport and request a new one - no visa stamps to make them query it.

However it looks like that won't be an issue due to the length of time she stayed.

Let's not get into the habit of advising to actively mislead the US government. You should only report a lost passport if, in fact, it is lost

Good luck.
