Hi Everyone!

My husband has received his k3 DCF visa and we are getting ready to go to the US. Our only concern is that the POE will be Atlanta and we have about 1 hour and a half to make our connection to San Diego. I bought our tickets on Expedia so I don't even know if we would be able to take the next flight, which isn't until the next morning. Any ideas/suggestions?

An hour and a half is tighter than I would want to try.

If you miss the flight then you would go to the (I'm assuming Delta) service desk if you are inside security or the ticket counter if you're outside and see what they have for the next available flight. There may be a charge for rebooking.

Here's hoping that it goes smoothly for you.

tell the CSR when you check in about the possible problem.. see what they can do in the even that you miss the flight

I would not even try 1.5 hour layover on a normal entry and with the POE stuff I would definetly do research on what your next option is for the next flight as I unfortunatly think you will not make the connection. Of course I could be wrong, but I have not gotten through Atlanta immigration in less than 1 hour (with the immigration, taking the bag and clearing customs, putting the bag on the line for the next flight and clearing security again) and I am a US citizen...

Call Expedia and explain and see what the options are... Also do a search on expedia for flights to San Diego and print them out so that when you go to the transfer desk to notify them you missed the flight (if that happens) then you have a list of other flights that they might be able to get you on (with the codeshares and such)...

Good Luck

Atlanta is the busiest airport in the world (no...seriously) and 1.5 hours is not enough time to clear immigration if you are traveling during peak times (basically any time after 8am) Plus, Atlanta requires you to claim your baggage, THEN go through customs/immigration. So no, 1.5 hours is certainly not enough time. I'm sorry, but Atlanta is a very busy, chaotic airport at the best of times.

Try contacting Expedia and see what they can do. Alternatively, assuming you're traveling Delta, contact them before your flight, explain the situation to them and see if they can move to you to another flight (or see if another carrier would be able to take you)

Good luck

I'm going to suggest a more expensive way (so don't riposte me for this). There are lots of flights to LAX (admittedly, this is still about 120 miles away, but...)from Europe (I'm assuming he will be doing something like Marakesh-CDG-ATL-SD)--how about rebooking his flight to come in there (leave Marakesh-CDG portion, rebook next one as CDG-LAX) and then drive to LAX to pick him up?

Having lived in Atlanta area, I can attest that canuck-wife is spot-on in saying that 90-minute connexion from international flight (unless it originates in Canada--special case, passenger will be pre-cleared make-or-break on Canada-airport side) is no way adequate (it's even "thin-ice" to do strictly-domestic connexion there with that gap)
