I get ur point but thats approval with USCIS not SSA... they are two diff entities that rarely communicate so approval with USCIS isnt always already updated with SSA, just like when u get the GC, it takes a day to update to get the SSN from them so its the same thing- the previous week or two of approval mean nothing to SSA

Umm I don't think the SSA has any info on You when u get ur EAD. How would they know anythin bout u if u never applied 4 a SS number? So I think they go and check wit DHS Dept of Homeland Security once u put in an application. Previous 2 that they don't have you in the comps. Maybe DHS or Uscis has a system where SSA can log in and check ur info. And then if smth is wrong and doesn't pop up automatically they have 2 contact them which then takes a lot longer.

Sux u having all these problems. U r saying that u diddnt get any paper confirming u applied? Wat the heck? Yea I did get that, and said SS card would come in 2 wks. I can't believe they r saying diff things in the same city... So they said they would send u a recipt by mail? That's weird, if u don't get it call back. U don't even have any proof u applied

Her stupid computer crashed!! I was at her window for 45mins while she entered the information in the computer, actually she entered my information twice!!! She said that they will mail me my receipt, but patience is not one of my stongest virtues (lol). If I don't get the receipt in the mail by Monday, I think I'm going to try applying in Queens (lol).

Congrats Sensi!

Krys, I was told up to 8 weeks and I got mine in 3 and a half. They have to verify your Immigration Status with DHS before they will issue you an SSN. Sometimes they can do this electronically, sometimes they can't. If they can't, obviously that holds things up. You won't get it any faster by going to the offices.

Common tax return, tax return check in both names chowing common address, insurance cards, me being shown as beneficiary in husbands union card, cable bill in our names, common bank account, engagement rings and wedding bands recipt.

But looks like they don't even ask 4 it. I'm not 2 worried bout the questions, just need 2 reminf my hubby 2 take it slow and think about the questions before he answers. I need 2 tell him 2 write a list of all my wonderful qualities so he can just easily name them 2 the IO officer LOL.

Hmm I don't have a copy of the affidavit. U thnk I should prnt out another copy 2 have it handy?

Btw; ur ss card situation is outrages! How can they not give u a recipt rigth then and there?!? I don't care ur comp crashed, get on another one and print me a recipt! Stupid govt official!

Sorry u had such bad luck with her Hun :\

I would call and explain and ask 4 the receipt.

And seriously ask where the hell they got their 6 weeks ######?! Cuz in qns they say 2 wks. I really don't understand how this can be soo different in the same city (I know I said this already but I really can't get it). When did u apply? Maybe u will just get it in a week like me :D :D :D

Is this not what I have been saying?

Umm well I guess if we saying the same thing then we r both right then :D good lol

Well alrightie.

I'm just I'm glad I didn't wait until I got my GC cuz I would prob be waiting an xtra month for a SS card. That's why I applied for EAD 2 wrk. So anyone in a similar situation as mine I would say apply wit ur ead. :)

Good Luck Everyone

Krys: I would try and call 2 check if gettin the receipt in mail is normal. And u can ask why in qns card center they give receipts that say u should get ur card in 2wks. If u do not get ur card in 2 weeks pls contact the qns card center and in brklyn they say it takes so long. Cuz that's the paper I got the day I applied.

Sorry for butting in here, but I find this very questionable. I can't see an IO responding like this unless he/she wants to lost their job.

so um i started writing a whole letter than accidently erased th whole thing

the point is tht i am APPROVED! YES

so we got lost first becoz mr gps decided we reached our destination when in fact we werent, i finally got out n went to a staples store n asked them where it ws

* god knows i ws planning on suing the GPS COMPANY*

anyway once there we got in, my friend came ith me, we kind of waited for a bout 45 mns out int he lobby, seeing a lot couples get approved , lol they couldnt hide their happiness

anyway finally around 3 an older man clled me in, he ws joking around with other officers * n me being me i thought he ws gonna just as nice to me* ummm wrong

anyway so we go in the room and he sorta gives me a hint that i would be approved, or so i thought, then the questions came

is he in the army, do u know his parents, did they attend the wedding, does he have brothers, he has a sister, how old is she etc * btw i ws so nervous i didnt know my age nor his *

oh yeah first thing he asked me for ws my working permit n i 94

then he finally told me that i ws approved, after yelling the ###### out of me, for nt talking loud enough ( yo he screamed loud too)

he asked me if i had anymore question , i said no

so officer decided to make some jokes

asking

how did the doorbell of the white house before bush came in

im like uhhh lyk ding dong? he said clin!ton!

WHICH WS NOT FUNNY MORE LYK SURP4RISING

THEN HE ASKED " how du think the cats miaw in cuba" i said well im nt sure but im sure it has to do with castro

he *NOPE, THE CATS IN CUBA SAY MIAMIIIIII* LOL

agin nt funny morelyk omg ####### dat is so mean

then he said " a policeman catches a mexican crossing the border for the sond time, so he asks him, y did u bring two people n went back to bring one, the mexican said 5the sign says NO TRES-PASSING" LOL

dat one ws ffunny

he asked me if i will be travelling bck home, i said yeah n he stamped my passport

today is a good day, i finally fell sleepy i havent slept, i lost weight my heart beat abnormally for days

GOD is good thanx guys i wouldnt wanna share this road with anyone else

APRIL FILLERS RULE n in two years hopefully we will get together again

good luck to whoever next

i ll be travelling bck him in about 3 days in case you dont hear from me, but im here

What u mean Val? Maybe he was interested in sensii lol

Ok MP.... I agree bout the whole "apply with EAD" thing cuz thats what I did first but they told me they had to verify with immigration which could take more than a week. Thats why I was giving the option of doing it once u get the EAD (it may or may not get u ur SSN asap) or do it with the GC/stamp (which gives overnight approval) and like I said, it make a difference with u guys waiting a day or two after getting the EAD to apply for the SSN. IMO

WHATS UP WITH ALLA???
