At DMV, the lady that registered my DL application told me that EA Card is PROOF of LAWFUL PRESENCE (she didn't even asked for my passport)!

If you read the approval notice carefully , it says on it that EAD is a proof of status.

heyyyyy wat about my letter? is my letter not coming soon? ;( lol

ohh and yes I am an overstay and I asked around at some agencies and did not apply for advance pAarole cuz technically they should let you in but as alot of you mentioned if your an overstay they can issue the ban and not let you return for years.

I am 5 year overstay so i would get a 10 yr if i left, thats crazy.

I am actually a little scared of the interview because I do not have a entry stamp in my passport becuase that passport was lost and i got a new one. So my new one there is ZERO stamps in there cuz i havent traveled anywhere since. But I do have my i94 card so i hope that will be enough to prove i entered legally and with inspection.

yea the EAD doesnt really count for anything once you leave the country, i believe on the card itself it states that it is only work employment in the US and does not guarantee for you to re enter the country.

I mean techinally if you have Advanced Parole they should let you in, but as i mentioned beefore I wouldnt leave the country

until I had my greencard in hand.

Im actually afraid to drive to another state because once you go up north near canada they randomly check cars and buses for illegal immigrants. OMG if i lived in Arizona i would probably be afraid to leave my house because of that new law...

i overstayd longer thanu my passport also ws lost but i made a copy of my 1 94 when my mother firstt applied for me.. o u have ur 94 number? if yes u ll be ok

hello every one here!

I'm coming from a very nice SSA/DMV trip, and i made my case move forward.

1- at the SSA: I got a provisory SSN card, w/ THE SSN on it! (30minutes)

2- at the DMV: went directly to DMV and file for DL, succeed my writing test first shot and *surprise* I'm allowed to drive already!

You had a very productive day! Nice!! Good to know that with EAD u can def get ur license! Congratz! :)

i overstayd longer thanu my passport also ws lost but i made a copy of my 1 94 when my mother firstt applied for me.. o u have ur 94 number? if yes u ll be ok

thank you for the info, yea i actually pulled out the card cuz i used the passport as ID here and i do have the original i94 card with the arrival/departure number. So yes yes yes, im sooo glad i did that and i have the i94.

You are absolutly right, unfortunately we remember that we should have made copies after we already lost the documents

Hey , guys

I have a question. Since I don't have EAD and GC with me, can I work? The IO told me at the interview, I'm now resident due to GC approval.

I went to Social security office yesterday to apply for number but the lady told me welcome letter is not enough I have to bring GC then she can issue me a number.

I got a job offer but don't have a social number yet but i'm a resident as you know. Is it ok to start working or still I have to wait for GC and get a number?

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

BTW, those of you who have progressed congrats!!

Sometimes social security office excepts welcome letter and sorry that they didn't in your case.

You can't work without SS number. But you can start working as long as you apply for ssc and receive a receipt.

Try to hold your job as long as you can! Your GC will come soon.

Congrats to those with recent updates and letters.

Wishing those of you waiting for updates and letters good news very soon. I'm especially keeping in mind Alla and Nartaki who've been waiting a while for their interview letters. And Alanakaja. I hope it's all a mistake and you have a smooth journey in the end.

Good luck to Samurai and Dr No Man who share their interview date with us! June 30, 2010. Hopefully an auspicious date for us all.

We are leaving for the beach on Saturday and I'll be running around like a chicken with my head cut off for the next couple of days. I don't know if I'll be able to check in again before we leave.

We've had to move further east to avoid the oil so we had to scramble last minute for a house large enough for us (we are a large family of three generations - over 30 of us under one roof) and the only one available does not have internet.

We'll be driving all evening on Tuesday to get back to the area and all day back to the beach after the interview on Wednesday. I don't know if I'll be able to get online until July 4th, so happy 4th of July to everyone especially you new LPRs, and don't think I'm shirking if I don't post an update until then.

Good night.

One less check of my email before bed and I find a second email from USCIS about the EAD card production being ordered, only this email states that the card production was ordered today, on June 23. So either they've ordered two cards, one on the 18th and one on the 23rd, or they never actually ordered the one on the 18th and so they ordered it today. Or the email today was a mistake. Who knows. Anyway, our interview is next week, so hopefully none of this matters.

Also the other two files were touched today, but no status changes.

No I also received two of those, but my EAD is dated on the first one. Then they sent me a notification of approval sent and I had my card in the mail 3 days after.

I think it's just their system that is crazy sometimes!
