I just had a chat with my mom and she told me about a friend who is married to a USC.

She talked about foreign affairs coming by every now and then and checking if they live in a real married relationship and although they do and she had a Visa before, the didn't prolong her Visa now.

Did anybody else hear about Immigration checking and actually coming for a visit to see if foreign spouse and USC really live together?

I don't know which visa she got, I was just like "#######?" when she told me this.

Any reports?

A friend of mine who did AOS as they got spontaneously married while she was here on holidays got a visit after they filed. She was embarassed because her and her husband's (who was at work during the visit) clothes were allover the bedroom floor, but that was probably a good thing in this case :) They also looked at the bathroom and the bookshelves. Not sure why they looked at the books, but I am guessing to make sure she didn't bring all her books, ie didn't intend to immigrate when she arrived. Visit lasted about half an hour, but it was only once, not repeatedly like the person you know.

foreign affairs ?

is this friend and usc spouse living in the USA?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I used "foreign affairs" as a lack of better term. I don't know the english term for what my mother used to describe.

Yes they are living in the USA that's why I'm asking.

If I'm going through all the CR-I stuff and bring along all the proof for bonafide of marriage I would expect them to leave me alone after all the immigration stuff was done properly.

I guess I just wanted to know if we will ever live in peace after this or if I will always be treated like a person that isn't to be trusted...

i dunno - there are too many variables, i think so ...

IMO, there is more scrutiny for:

AOS from tourist visa then

AOS from student visa then

young male foreign spouse then

anyone Iranian then

anyone from Iraq

I also think is 'random check' - ie - today YOUR case was randomly selected.

I would never say 'home visits' are the norm, not by anything that I know and understand.

IMO - a home visit is the exception.
