The only problem I have with it is that death is permanent and you cant appeal it if you were wrongly accused. I have no problem with disposing of the scum that could do what this man was accused of

and this my friends is whats called common sense. 100% agree

I'm in favour of the death penalty.

People who murder children....rape & slaughter women....break & enter, rob & beat an elderly couple to death....these people should still be alive?????

If someone murdered a family member of mine & there was NO DOUBT they comitted the crime...I'd want them to pay for the crime they comitted with their own life.

Eye for an Eye.

The fiscally conservative thing to do is to lock 'em up. Put them in solitary to rot for all I care. I have no sympathy for these kind of people. But there's absolutely no point in spending ten times what it takes to lock 'em away for good just to satisfy some desire for this eye-for-an-eye revenge.

whoa never heard a fiscally responsible thing come outta you till now but fair play to ya. isnt most of the cost associated with execution related to appeals costs? I think as a matter of practicality your suggestion may be the only right course of action despite how wrong it feels to me personally to give someone 3 hots and a cot for life after they did something as heinous as this. it would however feel much worse if it later comes out that the person didnt do it. I also dont like being on a short list of countries that still practice the death penalty that we have nothing else in common with. Iran for instance. i dont know if its enough to say have a stricter burden of evidence for such cases because as much as we like to fancy ourselves a post-racial country even here in nj theres still latent racism that permeates white society and that will always find its way into the courtroom. I hate the way the death penalty is implimented in the US, and though I think eye-for-an-eye has some level of merit to it its not always possible to garauntee theat it will be justly applied to the correct people in a blind justice system. I liken it to the "its better to let 1000 guilty person go free than to put an innocent in jail"

I think it's about time we bring back public hangings...

Would make a good reality TV show now days wink.gif

They stopped public hangings in the US years ago because it became a perverse public attraction.. it was supposed to be a woman executoner doing the deed.. almost like some sort of entertainment or spectacle rather than an example of what happens when someone commits a brutal crime against society...

I have no problem with the death penalty as punishment for serious crimes where there is no possible doubt that this person did the crime... if a guy walks into a bank and shoots people and is witnessed by many people and filmed doing it... IMO justice should be swift... too much BS involved in the current system... appeals? years? c'mon..

There is not much of a penalty anymore... just warehousing criminals... why no more chain-gangs? work crews paving roads... yep cool hand luke comes to mind... a crime against society deserves a debt to society be paid... the current system involves society paying to house and feed these criminals... not much different from a time-out...

There is nothing fiscally conservative about warehousing criminals....
