I just made a copy of our census form . . . will stick it in our file; can't hurt! Before mailing it off, make a copy!!

2011 March 31 - Sent off Naturalization pkg overnight to Texas

2011 April 1 - Arrived in Texas at 10:21 am

2011 April 1 - NOA (rec'd via snail mail April 8)

2011 April 7 - Cheque cashed

2011 May 5 - Biometrics (letter rec'd via snail mail April 15)

2011 May 9 - Placed in line for interview scheduling

2011 June 13 - Rec'd yellow letter (no change in status online)

2011 June 23 - Rec'd text that my case has been scheduled for interview

2011 August 1 - Interview (rec'd via snail mail June 27) PASSED

2011 August 3 - Rec'd email that my case has been scheduled for Oath

2011 September 1 - Oath ceremony (rec'd snail mail Aug 5)

2011 September 1 - All done, yeah.

I like the idea (although I am done with ROC) but it is not bad to include it as part of the evidence....

It probably doesn't hurt anything, but what in the world does it accomplish?

Anyone can write anything on a census form. Census information is private, so the USCIS is prohibited from verifying the info with the Census bureau. So at best, you're saying "I told the Census bureau that we both lived at the same address, but you'll have to take my word that I told the Census bureau this."

A fraudulent couple could easily fake this with no problem at all. They could lie to the Census bureau. Or if they wanted to, they could photocopy the Census form, then fill out one copy for immigration purposes, and fill out a separate truthful copy for the Census bureau.

So I don't see how a copy of a Census form could separate you from a fraudulent couple. The best evidence is something that would be difficult for a fraudulent couple to fake.

Not a good idea.

Census happens once every 10 years so its not a form of evidence that proves co-habitation or co-mingling of finances or lives.

Sending unnecessary forms will bring additional scrutiny.

Nice to see you back around these parts Arlington!

We got our Census Monday and mailed it back in on Tuesday. I made a copy of it and threw it in the file along with all of the other evidence while thinking "just in case."

Strangely enough, an immigration lawyer spoke last week on Sábado Gigante about how copies of the Census forms have been used as evidence in certain immigration procedures. He of course did not mention any of the processes we are going through, but did say that some undocumented immigrants were able to prove that they had resided in the US for 10+ years in the last round of residencies offered through amnesty by producing a copy of the previous census form.

I took that bit of info and decided that it wouldn't hurt our case at all to include such documents--along with all of our other evidence that we'll send for ROC.

Time Line

2007-11-10.....Marriage in Ecuador

2008-01-11.....I-130 Sent

2008-04-28.....I-130 Approved

2008-05-02.....NVC Received

2008-08-20.....Case Complete at NVC

2008-10-14.....Interview--221g, asked to present joint sponsor inspite of NVC approval

2008-11-07.....Visa due to arrive. DHL truck delivering visa was robbed, Consulate required us to present I-864s and DS-230 again, had to get a new passport and other related documents

2008-11-14.....Presented all new documents in person at Consulate, visa printed same day

2008-11-25.....POE Atlanta

2008-12-26.....Green Card and 2nd Welcome Letter arrive

2010-09-02.....Date of NOA ROC 1-751

2010-12-13.....Approval of ROC

2011-01-12.....10 year Permanent Resident card arrived

2011-12-20.....N-400 Application mailed

2011-12-29.....NOA

2012-02-02.....Walk-in biometrics (appt was for 2/16)

Concur.... That last statement is the best I have read here.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
