I had my AOS interview today-8am at the Oklahoma City Field Office.

We entered the USCIS building at 7.45am, went through security. We waited for about 30 minutes before we were called in. Our interviewer who was an elderly man asked us to follow him into his office.

To my surprise he asked for my I-94 and passport, both our IDs, took the I-94 out and add it to his file before we were sworn in with our right hands raised.

He then asked me our address, phone number, place of birth and ticked off on the forms as I answered. He then turned to the I-485 and asked me if the usual 485 questions to which I answered no to all.

He asked me how I came into the states and I told him F1 and he asked if I am still in school to which I replied yes. He then asked what I was studying, name of my school and copy of my I-20.

He turned to my wife and asked to describe our first meeting, whether she loves me, about the wedding, name of our church and the head pastor name.

He then asked me to describe how i proposed to her which i did. He then asked to see our wedding pictures and other documents in support of our marriage. We gave him Renewal lease, electric and cable bills, bank accounts, health, car and life insurance, and letter from my employer. He then asked me to give him about 5 pictures from my wedding pictures to add to our file.

He then said "that's it we are done. Thank you and let me walk you guys to the exit door." What? Nothing like you are approve or to be expecting something in the mail in 30 days. He did not give us any paper after the interview. We left the building not knowing whether to be happy or not.

No updates or touches on my I-485. Haven't received any text or email yet. Is this normal? Do any of you guys think we will be schedule for another interview? The IO did not give me back my I-94- That's the only thing i am happy about.

Sounds like the same man that interviewed us. My interview was on May 25th, and still no touches or anything. What I read, is that this guy can't make any decision, just put together information and send it to Dallas, where they make the approval stuff and issue the GC. Just don't worry too much, it'ill come soon.

Good luck.

I haven't received the GC yet. Before leaving his office my wife asked him if we were approved. His only answer was: "you did OK, you will get something in the mail shortly". That answer can freak even the toughest person, but.......... I won't worry until the time comes to do so. I know I am not giving you any peace of mind with my answer, but is almost the same what happened to me. So, that's why I tell you to relax. I wish us all luck.

Thanks for the quick response. I hope he mailed his reports to his boss and our files are not sitting at his office..... I need mine ASAP because i wouldn't like to pay international student tuition fees this summer/fall semester. Anyway, thanks and I wish you all the best.

Hey Icepeck, don't worry too much about it. I don't know if you read my post about my own experience earlier (our interview was yesterday morning) but here's what happened to us at the end: The officer asked us if we had any questions and so I asked her "for what reasons do you think we would get refused?" and she kinda laughed and said "because you're so young and don't have a lot of proof about your marriage"... Although we did have a lot of proof, so that was surprising!! So I don't know if she meant "in general" that these were the reasons why "a case" could be refused or if she meant that OUR case was not very strong... (We provided ample evidence about the fact that we have been together for 6 years - pictures of us all over the world, affidavits, common lease, healthcare plan etc...)

And then she guided us to the exit, just like you and gave us a paper giving the name of the officer with the boxes "Your case has been continued for the reason(s) checked below:" and "Further Review" that were both ticked. And I noticed there is another box saying "Congratulations, your adjustment of status has been approved" that she DIDN'T tick.

So, like you, I kinda freaked out. But I think that some officers are just not allowed to make the decision themselves. They probably need a superior to do it. So I can only hope that it is the case. Reading your report about your experience only comforts me: we had the same experience, it seems.

I didn't get any touches or e-mails yet either. Looks like we'll have to hold on and keep being zen masters!!! :)

Best of luck to you, my friend! Keep us posted!

Frenchie,

Your timeline is very similar to mine. I sent application on March 3 and my biometric was on April 6, and my interview was June 2 as well. In the end of my interview, officer told us that I would be getting a green card in the mail within one month or so, but he did not give me any approval notice or anything. And I did not get any email notification or touches on the USCIS case status yesterday. So I was a little worried, but I got a first email of my green card been ordered this morning!!

I just hope all the immigration officers are a little more considerate and give us applicants some comforts when interviewing.

wow... do these people not know how stressful the process is for us? You think they'd understand that we need confirmation one way or the other, and they can't leave you hanging! I'd be stressing out so much. I'm so glad when I went for the K-1 interview they flat out said we're approved. lol

And backtracking a bit to everyone who had EAD/AP approvals today... you all seem to be about the same time line as me!! Even the exact same NOA date on a couple... I SO hope that I am next! I really need this.

Hey Frenchie,

I couldn't sleep and was reading your interview experience. It sounded like you had a mean officer....I mean, she wasn't very nice obviously. I definately agree that you had more than enough proof of marriage. As for my case, I only had a civil wedding and also house is on my husband's name, not mine. When officer asked about house, my husband said he didn't change the name because of re-financing, (I think he just made it up at the moment..) and officer said it's fine. Also, I didn't bring any of the congratulation cards, but I was never asked. In fact, a lot of things I brought ended up not being shown. I even asked the officer if he needed to see them, and he said no.

I guess some of them just like to give us hard time. But I'm sure you'll be fine. You've definately shown enough proof, and it's so obvious to anyone.

It is nerve-racking, but just don't worry. It'll be just fine.
