I'm not from chicago but I just did my Walk in yesterday, I went there very early like 8am there where only 2 of us. They didnt even looked on my appointment date(04/20/2010). So if you really want to do walk in, go early. Don't go after 9am bec that's when the people start to come in.

Good luck!

Every office says appointment only on the site. I believe they do take walk ins, but if you try, go very early in the morning. If you go in the afternoon they are likely to turn you away.

Strangest thing happened yesterday. My step-daughter got her biometrics appointment but my wife has not received it yet. Seems to me to be bass ackwards as the K-2 is a derivative of the K-1. Anyone else seen this before?

I just got my biometrics appointment today for 04/23! Anyone here knows whether St Paul, MN ASC office accepts walk-ins?

Also, how much faster does it take if you do a walk-in vs. following the appointment schedule? Just curious.

Another stupid question, what's the difference between a CSC and ASC - and is it a big deal if your application got transferred to CSC? Browsing through this topic it seems it's a good sign.

 I am just happy right now things are going smoothly so far.

P.S. I just hope they don't ask for the I-797s from my L1 visa because my [former] employer is just giving me a hard time with that...

Hi, how do you know that your case is transferred to CSC?

It says so on the USCIS tracking site. I signed in this morning, saw my AOS case had been touched, and checked to see what the touch was. Viola! Case transferred :)

I am not sure how much things are sped up if you do a walk in, but I don't think my case would have been transferred to CSC today if I had not done my walk in last week.

CSC stands for California Service Center. It's in Laguna Niguel in Southern California. An ASC is an Application Support Center. The pretty much do Biometrics and that's it. Being transferred to CSC from MSC is a good thing, because it means they will try and adjudicate your case without having an interview. Even though I have been transferred, I am still preparing to be interviewed, you never know....I am also waiting for the medical RFE, since not many people are escaping without one!

We received our RFE Monday and sent the reply on Tuesday, turns out it was for the medical--the Civil Surgeon somehow forgot to write down the complete birthday, place of birth, and mis-spelled our street address and the phone number.

Nevertheless, we made an appointment with the CS, went in and got her to fill out the forms again, we double checked and she sealed and signed it. We put it in the mail via USPS Priority Mail and USCIS should have it by Monday the latest.

It was the CS's fault, I must say... Anyway, good luck to all of us!

Both of the other two of us who were transferred to CSC from this month's thread didn't have our biometrics appointment yet, so I think your walk-in theory inaccurate. Our biometrics is scheduled for April 12, and our case is already transferred. Doing a walk-in will sometimes make the EAD process faster, sometimes it actually slows it down; depending how far out your appointment was set. Typically it doesn't affect the AOS portion much from reviewing other people's timelines. Just DON'T go past your appointment, or your case is considered abandoned.

I'm signed up on USCIS' website and also with the initial paperwork for text and email updates. I received a text that my case had been updated and an email saying it had been forwarded to CSC.

The ASC is also not just for the biometrics appointment. Most cases are transferred from the Texas Family Benefits Center to their local ASC office to finish processing and have an interview.

Those lucky enough to get transferred to CSC typically won't have an interview (unless there's a fraud indicator found during CSC processing), and the adjudication of the green card is typically faster than the ASC route, depending on your particular ASC. In our case, Milwaukee shows processing from September and is slower than the national average, so it's very likely it will be much faster for us to be processed at CSC. Many people who are transferred to CSC in previous month's threads get their greencard shortly after their EAD, sometimes even before it.

I have no idea what their criteria for transferring to CSC is.
