Got the notice in the mail today...due to unforseen circumstances...blah, blah, blah...interview for August 18th at 8:00am has been cancelled...

Anyone have any experience with how long it takes to get rescheduled?

Our big celebration in Canada has been scheduled for October 1st and I think I read that if my AOS is approved but I have NOT received my card that I cannot leave the country even with AP....is that correct?

thanks in advance!

Arrange an infopass asap at your local office to find out what the unforseen circumstances are.

I was not aware of any reason that you can't use your AP, even if your AOS has been approved, but maybe someone else will provide some information here.

You could ask them to stamp your passport with the I-551 stamp at your AOS interview if you get approved. They aren't giving the stamp that often anymore because the GC's are processed and mailed so quickly, but maybe if you explained your situation, they would make an exception.

Good luck.

The same happened to me! My interview was schedulled for August 18th at 11 am in Miami. Last Friday I received a notice saying my interview was cancelled. I started to worry about it, but on Saturday I received a new letter with the new date: August 8th!!! Before than the original date! So be prepared, I think the same can happen to you!

I'm not sure, but I think we can't use the AP after the interview. I think we can only travel w/ the stamp in the passaport or w/ the greencard.

Good luck!

I had my interview last Monday and my interviewer told me that we could use his AP until we get the GC in the mail.

I also called the 800 number (was transferred to an officer) and she confirmed what the interviewer said.

We're going on a cruise this weekend to the bahamas and using his AP. I will update if we run into any problems.

PS> I also interviewed in Miami - here's a tip - BRING WATER! The waiting room they stick you in is SO hot and I was about to pass out I was so thirsty. Also, my interviewer was a really nice lady. I think her name was Patricia, but she was just a doll. Hope you all get her!
