Dear all,

I know this might be totally silly to you,but is there a chance to get a visa rejection only because my fiance and I met only 2 times in 2009. I work for an airline and today I found out that I am laid off. We still have a chance to meet in Canada or Europe, and I can have discounted but stand-by tickets for Air Canada for example to fly to meet Scotty in Vancouver, but from the 1st May I won't have that chance anymore. Scotty has some sort of 50-50 chances of being laid off too, so I don't want to risk his job especially because we have not obtained our NOA2.

Can a CO possibly tell us his/her decision is negative simply because we met for the last time in Nov,2009? Scotty thinks that according to information in I-129F it is written we MUST meet at least twice, so we are on a safe side, but I am freaked out that stubborn Moscow CO might say no to me!

What are our chances? Any advice is appreciated!

Your question is in the wrong forum and I'd move it for you but I cannot.

Petition approval only requires you to have met once in the two years prior to filing.

Visa approval goes up exponentially each time you visit though, as it goes to the bonafides of the relationship.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Hi! The I-129F instructions states that you should have met within 2 years of filing the petition:

You may file this petition if: You and your fiancé(e) intend to marry within 90 days of your fiancé(e) entering the United States, and are both free to marry, and
have met in person within two years before your filing of this petition

You can check the instructions here - http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf

My fiance (now husband) and I only met twice before we filed our I-129F petition too. Before filing, we first met in June 2008 then the last time we were together was December 2008 to the first few days of January 2009. We filed in February 2009. Our petition was approved without any RFEs in 47 days from our NOA date. :)

The waiting is hard; it gives you months and months to worry about what might go wrong in the process. But reading on VJ forums will arm you with some idea of what to expect in the next stages, and how other people have solved problems that, hopefully, won't happen to you anyway :P

I've had a photocopy of the I-129F we sent off in Nov. sitting in a drawer, and it's hard sometimes not to pull it out and agonize over every "N/A", wondering if it should've been a "none". But try to keep busy, and think of hobbies or things you've always wanted to try but haven't before. Soon(ish), you'll be getting ready to move on over to the US (or welcome your partner, if you're the USC) and all this will be behind you. I keep telling myself "we only have to do this once!"

Best of luck!

Only need to have met once, for at least one second. You meet that.

The CO will ascertain the proof of an ongoing and real relationship. I assume you can meet that.
