K1 Visa Packet sealed envelopes

Reading people's posts about their K1 experiences, I see different people refer to their "do not open" visa packet envelope in at least 3-4 different colors, the most common being brown.

Mine came from Vancouver, Canada, and was white. But I've never heard of anyone else getting a white envelope.

What other colors do other consulates use? Is there [unlikely] any significance to it?

no significance.

What should matter is any outside stamps/seals.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I figured that: it's more idle curiosity than anything.

Do CR-1's get a "Do Not Open" packet? If so, what color was yours?

What exactly IS in that "Do Not Open" packet that they don't want you to see?

You've seen pretty much everything in the envelope, you (or your fiance) probably even submitted most/all of it. It's not a secret - it is sealed so CBP knows it hasn't been tampered with.

It's basically every piece of paper you or your fiancee have given them from the beginning of the I-129 application, plus your immigration medical, their adjudication notes, etc. During my PoE the border officer asked me about a letter from my fiancee's parents that was included with our I-129F, so I'm pretty sure the entire I-129F packet is in there. Plus everything generated during USCIS adjudication, NVC processing, consular processing, your medical, and consular adjudication. Your entire immigration file, basically. As was mentioned above: it's sealed so that they can know you didn't mess with any of it.

Yes, it is basically your entire immigration package. They give it to you so you can act as the courier to bring the information to the US. When you turn the package in at your POE it verifies that you have indeed entered the US, and the package is then sent to the local USCIS office that has jurisdiction over where you are living in the US. That file will grow over the next few years from that simple envelope to several inches thick as you send them more information in order to get your green card, and then to remove conditions on your green card, and finally - if you go that far - when you apply for citizenship. I 'saw' my file again at my citizenship interview. That sealed yellow (in my case) envelope sure had grown! Hehehe - and I don't have any sympathy for them if they got a hernia lifting it :D
