finally....it's DONE!!

I am now a US Citizen!!

My oath was at 2pm today in Miami.

240 people from 36 countries, and MANY visitors (standing room only!!!)

the music played while waiting for the ceremony struck me as somewhat funny:

- heaven, Im in heaven (why, of course, it's heaven here!! ;) )

- Born in the USA (my favorite, as clearly nobody who is getting naturalized is BORN in the USA)

- it's a beautiful day (ok, that one worked well)

- living in America (it seemed like all that mattered was that AMERICA was in there somehow)

then, to my personal entertainment, they actually went as far as playing:

- I come from a land down under.... (you see how I find that funny??)

then the ceremony started, a quick greeting and introduction of the different people holding the cermony. We had to stand and swear that all information given is the truth.

The national anthem was being played, next came a video called 'faces of immigration' or something like that. pictures of immigrations throughout the years of the USA. kinda puts into perspective how easy our journey really is, compared to what other people went through (at least we could come on an airplane...)

Then our countries were read and when you country was called you were to stand up and remain standing.

A short speech was given, then we all spoke the oath.

More speeches, congratulations etc.

Video of Mister Obama congratulating us.

Then on the big screen they played: Im proud to be an American - and everybody was to sing along and wave our little flags.

then they gave us our certificates, and then we were DONE!!!!

it feels SO good to know that I am American now, and mostly that I am DONE with USCIS!!!

thank you to everyone who helped me through this journey, you guys were great!!!

ok, now off to have some champagne!!!!

Congratulations! :)

When you say the oath, do they say it one line at a time and then you repeat the one line? Or did you have to learn it by heart?

Congratulations! Your oath ceremony sounds like it was identical to mine - same music, videos, procedure, everything! It was nice and it was moving. Again, congratulations!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
