We haven't filed for K1, but this issue concerns my Pakistani fiance if/when we do. Does anyone know if there's a way he can get by with not having all the towns' that he's resided in, police clearances (he said hes lived in many towns)? If not, can anyone please give us advice?

My fiance is discouraged (to say the very least) that the visa process will not work for us. He is deathly afraid and it's killing our relationship. I'm trying to convince him that we can do this, other people in similar situations have done it, that it's worth it in the end and he's just convinced we'll never be able to be together.

Also, he doesn't want to meet in a couple months (like he agreed to a week ago) because now he said that he'll never want to let me go and it will be too hard to go through all that again. (It's damn worth it to me, especially if we file for the K1 in the meantime)

I am truly, truly scared our relationship will end for the sole fact that he won't try. :crying: I can't write down everything that has been happening, but we've both been really upset the past couple weeks ever since he was told by his travel agent that he couldn't help him get a tourist visa to Morocco 'because it's too difficult'.

To the people who pray, please put us in your prayers. We are so in love and I know we can get through this, but he doesn't see it. I really need advice. I am really hurting right now and slowly giving up hope. I don't know what to do.

Thanks in advance.

You only need the police certificates for the countries you've lived in, not towns. And they are easy to obtain. The process is long, but if you believe in each other, it's certainly worth it! Good luck.

Ah! I swear to God, ignorance is NOT bliss. My fiance makes so many assumptions without checking facts (when it comes to the visa process). He's a very intelligent man so I'm not sure why he does this. But, thanks very much, Meridith & Brahim. I feel at least a little bit better now.

Sounds like the problem may be the fiance rather than the process

Police Records

Police records (also known as Character Certificates) are available at no cost from District Coordinating Offices, and take up to three months to obtain. There is no central police register in Pakistan, and applicants should therefore provide certificates from every jurisdiction in which they have lived for the requisite period of time. Police certificates are available by mail. Applicants currently outside Pakistan should contact the nearest Pakistani Embassy or Consulate for instructions.

Non-Pakistani citizens may have difficulty obtaining police records even if they are/were residents of Pakistan. Police records are unavailable to non-Pakistani citizens if they are/were not officially resident in Pakistan while present here (e.g., Afghan citizens staying in refugee camps.)

The above is exactly why you need a country specific answer.....

If he's going to give up that easily, then the relationship won't last. Shouldn't he at least have to try? I think he's making too much of it. And what does a tourist visa to Morocco have to do with a fiance visa to the US?

Is it easy to get a visa when you're from Pakistan? No - not compared to places like Canada or the UK. It isn't impossible, but if he wants to think that it is, I guess no one is stopping him....!

Regardless of where the certificates must come from, they are obtainable. People do it all the time.

and in some places are even available on the "web" or by the mail....

My wife had to travel to travel to a foreign country to get one to cover her university years.... Three days on a bus, but she did it without losing hope in the process...

Hi Jenn, payxibka has pointed out good information. There are different requirements from different countries. You'll need to do your research to fully understand what is required from Pakistan. Others may lead you off the correct path. For example - in Vietnam there are two things, a Police Certificate (which would be from countries outside VN where the beneficiary has lived) and a Justice Record (which is from the local jurasdiction within VN where the beneficiary lives). Pakistan may be different so I cannot advise you since I am not really familiar with the requirements there. I guess my point is, be careful what advice you receive and evaluate it based in the available facts. Do your research and seek advice also from those who have been through the same consulate. I hope this helps a little.

Two people may have a commom bond. If that bond is truly love, the two shall endure. We are all tested throughout our lives, our love, our faith, our strength. The strength of those who endure shall never be broken.

Good Luck and Best Wishes

You should try posting the Q about the PCC in the regional forum.

Consider that he may know that there is possibly something in his past that may prevent him from receiving a visa. Either that, or it really does seem too much like hard work for him ... where does that leave you?

I hope it all works out for you ... good luck ... :star:

Ok first of all - step 1 - go and see him, I know he is like dont come and blah blah blah but he will be really happy to see you...it will be difficult when you are heading back however, you seem to have a much stronger character then him so its about time you take control of the situation and tell him "mein abhi sirf is liye ja rahi ho takey ap ko wapis leney k liye asako".

To be honest, I cant believe a pakistani guy being such a cry baby, no offense though. My fiance is like that too but she is a girl; however, there seems to exist a certain breed of lover who need just one thing to keep them happy i.e. reassurances. It can be tough sometimes but if you really love each other, you will stand by in each others corner no matter how hard things get.

And dude in Pakistan I know it is a pain to deal with the police but COMMMON! its not like its something impossible.

Immigrating to US is not a joke and staying committed to your partner is certainly not even close to a joke. If he thought that the visa would be serve along with a wife to him on a plate, he is so mistaken.

He needs a wake up call.

I'm sorry , but that is not correct. My husband just had his interview on the 7Th. He has lived in Swat

and is now living in Islamabad. He had to obtain police clearance from each Providence.
