I am currently stationed in south Korea where I met my fiancé 6 months ago, I’m leaving in 4 more months to my new base in Alaska as this tour was only a 1 year long tour.

we want to start the 129 and visa process while I’m still here and hopefully in 4 months it will be complete or soon to be completed, we are doing the k-1 because her school doesn’t finish until a month after I have to leave, we really don’t want to spend any more time apart then we have to.

Now my question is while we were filling out the form 129 we noticed that one of the questions asked the address she will be living at once arriving in the US. I can’t answer that question because I have not left Korea yet and established one. Is it possible to just put N/A on this block and still have the form accepted? Can I put the address of the next base I’m going to in Alaska? Are there any special exceptions when filing for 129/k-1 if your active duty military?

Also when we file the 129, what state office should we file it under? My next base location in Alaska where we will be living at when we get there? Or my home of record state?

The question is applicable so don't write N/A. You could put "to be determined pending military orders" or something to that effect, or just use a permanent address such as that of a parent. If things change by just before the visa interview, the question is asked again on the actual visa application.

Be sure to use an I-129F.

Okay I’m just really confused as to what I put on this form.

Part A on the top part of the form asks for my address

Question 14 asks where she will be staying after arriving in the Us

And on part C question 1 it asks me if I’m in the US military and if so list my overseas address and when I will be returning to the states.

Anyone know a definite answer to this? There is hardly any information for military members :(

For questions 14 (Where she will be staying after arriving in the US) I would put your units address in Alaska. You already have orders, right? Just put down the address that's on the orders and attach a copy of it. Also include a copy of your current orders to South Korea.

For your address put your APO/FPO address. I did my Lifting of Conditions while we were stationed in Germany and all the mail was sent to our APO address there.

For Part A, my husband used his mom's address in the U.S. (but this matched his info on the G-325A that he filled out because he lived with his mom right before he got deployed)

For the address where I would be staying, he used his mom's address in the U.S. too.

For Part C, he listed his overseas military address (Vilseck, Germany).

* this is only because he didn't have his orders yet and technically he was still part of his old unit that was stationed in Germany.

When he got back to the U.S. and bought our house, our I-129F had already been approved. I believe he did change his address eventually but we were already at the embassy stage then (when he called to schedule my interview appointment).

okay cool, so apo address on the top section, then my base address for where she will be living and then my apo address again for the military question, got it and thanks so much :)

now however, when I file this form, It says that If i file this form to the wrong service center that It will automaticly be rejected or delayed, how do they determin what state i am from with an apo address? I just don't want them to look at the apo address and say "oh well this isnt for us" and reject it.

I just read that you will only be in Korea for another 4 months. Maybe you should work with your parents' address then, so all the mail can be sent to them and they can forward it to you. That would work too as previous posters have mentioned before. :)

Good luck!

Usually APO/FPO works with Nebraska. Those were the directions on my Lifting of Conditions form (back in 2007, they might have changed the instructions by now though). You can also call the military hotline and ask them specifically about the F-129.

If you put your parents' address, then the service center would be based on that address.

Let me add something from my own experience:

Even though we put our APO address on my lifting of conditions paperwork, some of the USCIS correspondance actually went to my husband's parents' address (don't ask me why. They might have had the address on file still because I lived there when I first came to the US, plus it is my husband's home of record). What I am saying is that USCIS doesn't care where the mail goes to as long as you show up to your appointments and file the right paperwork.

And there's always that! :D

We called the military hotline before we filed for AOS too and they were pretty helpful ^_^
