MLK died in Memphis, TN and was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

Anyone ever been to those cities to see what the folks he fort for have done to those places? No one in their right mind would venture into various areas of those cities. That's not racist either, it's bloody reality, period.

I don't feel shafted, I don't care what the day is called, as long as the hubby gets it off, and I think people should be proud of who they are, no matter what their race, and it's just sad if they don't so I want a "be proud of who you are day" that's all.

Bingo! A day to celebrate diversity in honor of MLK would be much more appropriate.

MLK died for the Civil Rights Movement. It was a turning point when he died. Was like a tidal waves.

It was a turning point alright: Ghettos, crime, no-gone zones, destruction of entire neighborhoods, promotion and encouragement of AA ethnocentricism etc. Definitely a lesson for international civics books in countries that don't want to botch an integration.

Pleeeeeease, for you to deny this is absolutely laughable. Tell me one other group of folks who beats on about their race 24/7?

I'm not denying it, I just don't share your fixation with the subject.

I can only think of a few 6 letter words that would fit into that sentence, can you please tell me what the word starts with so I can narrow it down?

Nit-wit.

MLK day used to coincide with Robert E Lee day (last Friday) here in the South. People evidently complained, so they changed it.

MLK would be rolling in his grave considering how things have ended up. How the many people (communities) he worked so hard to acquire equal rights and opportunities for, now choose to shoot-em-up and destroy entire neighborhoods, rather than build a normal life. Furthermore, actually integrate into the communities he worked so hard for them to have access to.
